Setting up the outdoor green house : We out grew the indoor green house

in #homesteading6 years ago (edited)

So I have had some plants showing signs they need more room.

Only problem is I don’t have the room in the house.

I attempted to regrow a pineapple, it didn’t work

So I took them out today and started transplanting.
It was partly cloudy and the wind was making a chill. It didn’t stop me from wearing my favorite summer dress.

Just me in the raw, see I’m real.

But I realized maybe I should have set up the green house first.

I moved out a fridge, stove, entertainment center, a 250 lbs coffee table(its awesome too), and a china hutch.
If you look closely at the after picture, you can see ice under the table.

After getting everything out, I checked the zippers on the green house. They broke, the green house is 6-10 years old and was given to us. So I took fishing line and stitched it closed on one side, also the window because of corse that broke too.

I moved everything in, hooked up the heater too.
I have it set to med-high. Our temps are still in the 30s-40s. But with the heater set up it’s about 60-70 in the green house.

I placed black plastic bags between the plants and the exterior wall of the green house to give some protection. I am probably doing it wrong though.
The black pile of trash bags are the yellow potatoes I planted, they haven’t busted ground yet. So I am hopeful keeping them in the plastic bubble will help keep them warmer while in the green house too.
I moved my purple potatoes out too, they started to shoot roots out the bottom of their buckets.

The green house still needs some more work done to it. I also have more stuff that needs planted.

Only thing I haven’t taken out yet is the pumpkins. They are still in the grow tent.

We need to do our spring clean up around outside and along the road side.

We also found this huge bug, actually my hubby @alaskatactical did.

Well that’s it for today. Hope you all are well.

That is some impressive ingenuity. Your "before" pic look very familiar to me...something like my garage, and shed...

Hahaha, yeah we got rid of our storage unit in the fall and my green house was still set up, so it became the new free storage unit until we can down size from our move. We just have to much fluff.

Spring is always busy! Looking like a good year for you!

Yeah, I hope it is a good year.
You need a good year too
