2 Minutes with the Farmer: Using Recycled Rocks for Landscaping!!!

in #homesteading5 years ago

Today on 2 Minutes with the Farmer we are using recycled rocks for landscaping at grandmas house. When we dug the basement we hit a lot of rock so we decided to use the rocks for landscaping. It is a lot of work but it looks pretty good if I say so myself;)

Thank you for spending 2 minutes with me!

howdy sir Farmer! now that looks like some work. probably have to take another vacation after that job! lol.
Hey do you have to break any of those pieces to fit or there are so many different sizes you just have to look for the right ones?

That had to be a pain to run into that digging the basement! you used jack hammers?

It was a lot of work. We had to break a few to get them to fit right. Yes we had to use a hoeram to dig the basement

you should have had thefarmerswife video that for a post, probably most people would never have seen that kind of thing before, including me.lol

Very true. Didn’t think of that

Wow that looks nice!! But it made Think a bit, all the stones make good homes for ants (I might be completely wrong xD). Or you might not have many ant in your country lol

That is good thinking. However her in Kentucky we do not have very many ants. Thanks for watching

You dag the lime stone, cracked them, and installed them on the house yards all by yourself? Wow, you are jack of all trades!

Thank you. The tracto helps a lot

Ah yes... the old shell rock!!! I've started to know this type of stone moving, it ain't light work! Hopefully next year we can have a machine other than my two arms.

Nice work, the paths looks beautiful. And I lile these 2 minute videos you're doing... very cool. Thanks for sharing 😁.

Here's ours:

Wow. You have been busy. Those stinkin rocks weigh a ton. Keep up the good work.

Yeah super busy... heavy and time consuming, that's whybI feel lile we haven't made any progress on the homestead this year!

Thanks, you too

Slow and steady wins the race. If you are like me there is a list a mile long and when you get one thing done you find three more to add

Yep, exactly the same... whennthe list looks close to being done, it gets longer!

That came out looking so nice and professional! Great work! Those rocks look good, like you could have bought them from Lowes. So Cool!

Just dig a hole in Kentucky and you will find a ton of these rocks. Thanks for watching!!!

Haha, that's how it was in Ohio where I came from. We are in GA now and when you dig, all there is is sand. Nothing but sand. Super annoying, because I can think of loads of uses for rocks but they are hard to come by here! You actually DO have to buy them at Lowes. :/

I dream of digging and finding sand when I am putting in fence post;)

Haha, Id send you some if I could, we have more than enough! It still seems so weird to me. As a kid, I used to LOVE hunting for arrowheads and fossils, but here there are none whatsoever. Just sand...

Oh hey, that looks FANTASTIC!! so impressed. We have volcanic rocks around here, and we use them for garden edging. Hubby makes them look pretty natural.

Thank you. Volcanic rocks would be really cool

Such a coincidence that you just posted this, because we just finished a driveway using rocks from around our land! We'll be sharing pics soon.

Great minds think alike. Look forward to seeing your project.

Those are nice rocks (ha, that sounds funny now that I typed it) but they are nice and flat like flagstone. People pay big bucks for stone like that. You are doing a good job.

Tha k you very much. They weigh a ton. Thanks for watching
