Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 220 Part 1
This is a video from Day 220 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and ninety-two days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods.
'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. In this video I talk about liking it in the new homestead area and joke about not hitting my head once on the ceiling of the new building. At that point I still had a bunch of sore spots on my head from hitting my head repeatedly in the shack.
I talk about moving my twenty watt solar panel from the shack area and installing it on the roof of the building. I also talk about moving the charge controller, battery and other charging related gear onto a table inside the building so that I would have a temporary charging station.
I talk about still being mostly 'setup' in the shack area and how I still need to move a lot of stuff to the new area to have a better living 'setup' over there.
I show where I moved all the building materials out from under the canopy tent and got it all stacked on the trailer. I talk about how it will be good to get all the material to the new area so that I can start using it. I talk about how so far I had moved the entire pile four times and had hardly used any of the material.
