Kitten Update! 8 Weeks Old
The kittens are 8 weeks old! They’re playing, jumping, climbing, eating real food, spending time outside and weaning off of mama. It is so fun to watch them!
They’re the sweetest thing!
As mentioned, there are two girls and 1 boy. The girl we are going to keep we named Wilder. She’s a fluffy treat who is already sidling up next to us and snuggling. Heart melting!
We are looking for homes for the other two.
This is the first new life we’ve ever nurtured on the homestead and it’s been very rewarding. We didn’t get Wix spayed in time for her not to get knocked up by the neighborhood Tom, and we felt kinda bad adding to the cat population, but beyond all of that it’s been incredibly sweet to witness all the stages of growth of these young ones.

Each step of the way we’ve loved watching them and tending their mama with some extra love. The miracle of life and motherhood is alive and well within the cat populations and it’s amazing how quickly they are already patterned after their mama.
Cat naps are wonderful for humans too :) We had kittens around a few times when I was growing up. All pets were "outdoor animals" at my house. Both my parents grew up on farms and had a pretty matter-of-fact, practical view of animals. I remember sneaking kittens into the house when I was little. Good memories.
Hehe sneaking the kitties in! I can picture that :) they’re so fun to cuddle with!

I think the gordon setter boys would wanne play with the little fellow, but did you know kittens can cure depression?

Speaking from experience, there is nothing better than to nurture new life on the homestead, but be careful. Cats can reproduce rapidly and before long there will be new litters of cute cuddly kittens...That is how we ended up with 27 kittens in one year on our homestead! LOL
