5 Fun Facts About The Percheron Horse.

in #horses6 years ago (edited)

The Percheron Horse is one of my favorite horses because it is just so massive when you see it. The horse can be intimidating at times to ride, especially if you get a younger one. Here are 5 fun facts about the Percheron breed.

  1. The Percheron can stand between 15.2 and 19 hands(4 inches), weight up to 2,600 pounds, and are usually born black or gray.
  2. Even thought the horse is rather large it can still trot an average of 35 miles a day.
  3. The Percheron has been used as a riding horse, a warhorse, to work on farms, and a draft horse(a horse that pulls heavy objects).
  4. Originally from Normany, France in the La Perche district. It is now found world wide.
  5. Dr. Le Gear was born in 1902 and one of the tallest Percheron's on record weighing 2,995 pounds.
