Part 4 Setting up your User Data volume.
In the box on the bottom left of the screen marked 'Type here to search' type in 'Storage' and press the Enter key.
You will see all the storage volumes connected to your PC. Click on any volume to see a synopsis of the volume content.
Scroll down to More Storage Settings and select 'change where new content is saved'
Change the volume where new content is saved and allow existing data to be moved to the new location. Caution only move 'apps' contents the first time of use otherwise the new apps you have purchased will be deleted forever.
Avoid problems by backing up your WindowsApps folder on a regular basis.
Inspect your User Data volume with File Explorer and you will see a folder with your current UserId and other system folders. Inspect your userId folder and you will see all of your user data folders. This procedure must be followed for each user account.
The next task is to change the location of all the users libraries. If you have a family of users to change it can be daunting. Perhaps we can ask Microsoft why it wasn't done automatically in the storage settings app.
Select 'File Explorer - This PC'. All 7 of the user libraries will be shown at the top of the screen.
Right click each library in turn and select 'Properties - Location'. I assume your user data volume is volume D, if not substitute your volume letter for D.
In the location substitute 'D:' for 'C:\Users' and hit the enter key 3 times.
Repeat for all libraries. Make sure to check the new location of each library as it is easy to make a mistake.
Note that successful completion removes the libraries from the C drive. On error click 'Restore Default'.
Do the same for the library 'AppData -Roaming'.
You may now copy your backed up files to the new libraries on your User Data Volume.
