Hurricane Michael - Extremely dangerous, get out if you haven't already
Hurricane Michael has rapidly strengthened into a powerful Category 4 overnight. Over the last few hours, the pressure has also dropped which means this storm is still strengthening. Pressure last observation had it around 931 millibars!
It looks Michaels eye wall is around 57 miles from the coastline. Its moving Northeast at 12mph so we can expect a landfall within the next 4 hours. Between Panama city and Mexico beach looks to be in the crosshairs for the strongest winds. Even though sustained winds are around 145mph you can expect well higher wind gusts at times. These wind gusts may reach 170-175mph!
Wind profile look using the super-res velocity clearly showing wind gusts over 165mph offshore on the east side of the eye wall. The left side of the eye wall around 135mph. The right side of the eye wall will be where most of the damage from wind and storm surge will occur. Expect catastrophic damage.
There is still time to get out if you haven't already. This will be the worst storm Florida panhandle has ever seen so there should be no reason why you should be try sitting this one out hoping for the best.
