"IFC S2R1" - "The Universe" - My entry

"The Universe"

First off let's determine what it is, according to definition - The Universe is all of space and time and their contents
In other simpler terms the Universe is everything.

One question that people have been trying to find the answer to is How did it begin, the Universe.

  1. Big Bang theory: According to the standard Big Bang model, the universe was born during a period of inflation that began about 13.7 billion years ago. Like a rapidly expanding balloon, it swelled from a size smaller than an electron to nearly its current size within a tiny fraction of a second
    q. Does this really tell us how the Universe began? What was there before the period of inflation? What caused the period of Inflation? What gave birth to the Universe? If it was from a "multiverse", what made that universe. (Multiverse-a collection of universes as in a collection of soap bubbles all touching, used to be called bubbleverse, until Star Trek took bubble verse and made it a one person universe.)

  2. Creation theory: Creationism is the religious belief that the universe and life originated "from specific acts of divine creation", as opposed to through natural processes, such as evolution. Wikipedia
    q. This theory also has questions that can not be answered. Such as if in the beginning there was nothing, then where did God come from to create the Universe? From another Universe? How was that one created?

  3. Those are the two primary methods that people have heard about how the Universe came into being. There are other theories, such as the Multiverse hypothesis, and others. I have yet to see anything that can really answer how the Universe Came into being.

Random Picture I took.

Sometimes thinking about the Universe can get us little bit squirrely in the head.
We may not even be asking the right question to learn of the origins of the Universe, it may be a steady state system, if so it is one very strange steady state system. The answers may be untangled by quantum physics entanglement theory, or it could be as simple as it just happened, and thus was born the Universe.

As for myself, I do not think we are ready to accept how the Universe came into being, my own theory is that it was done by magic. Where that magic came from well we will never know. It does not matter what theory is put forth there will always be holes in it and it will never be provable.

It could be the universe is like that little tiny space in a circle that mathematics can not account for. There may be no such thing as a closed loop. The further out we look, the more holes we see, the closer we look the more empty space we see.

We are and always will be destined to live between the spaces of space both macro and micro. We are betweeners, we live and we die, and we do all of that while thinking about the sky and space. From our first unsatisfactory answer of "They just look like they twinkle Joey, it is really because of the sky they twinkle". Or "Daddy why is the sky blue", answers. We are just children. We are learning, and we are growing. Yeah we are growing older.

Are we on a Larry Niven Ringworld, only instead of a regular ring, are we instead on a Mobius Ring always looking out, and no matter what way we turn we can never look inward, because we live on the outside edge?

Well that's a few of my thoughts on "The Universe", so now it's "Second Star to the left and straight on 'til tomorrow". ("Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning") The original quote.

Season 2 officially starts off with a bang. A Big Bang!

And a question, ikf we start off with a topic this epic, what is to come? I hope it is not what your "episode 2" will be about.LoL.

Awesome first entry!!! I had a feeling you would be the first to write up something! As apolymask stated you were the first to enter this season as well as last season. I think you should get an "early bird" bonus! What do you think @apolymask? Anyway, great read on the universe! I will be doing things a little differently with my posting and judging this season, so my feedback for each entry will be coming soon! Thanks for such an awesome read @bashadow!

Someone has to be the first to kick the ball or its game over in kick ball anyways. If I waited for a few entries to be posted, then I might have to think of something different to cover the subject. Double edged sword first or last, which one, how long to wait, and all that. But I liked the idea when I first saw the post that I wanted to keep the 2 thing going for just a bit longer. Numbers drive me nuts sometimes.

I do that in my class discussion points because I don't want anyone to think I took their ideas. Someone has to do it as you said!!! I am always doing something with numbers, I used to add up all the numbers I would see while riding around in the car as a kid, I still add all the numbers of license plates and house addresses when I am out and about. I have no idea why. Maybe it's the universe's way of keeping me occupied lol. Either way great entry and keep being you!!!

Interesting questions... and these are the ones that attracted me to originally study this sort of thing!

If we only strive for the possible, we will never accomplish the improbable.

So many questions about the universe never seem to have answers. I have been watching a series on aliens and it is quite interesting.
But the world is our oyster and I think we were meant to enjoy our time here no matter how it all came about. 😊

Ah once you start down that road there is no turning back, you just want to learn and know more, are we really alone? Do Aliens really exist? ...and a lot more, but Yeah, deep fried oysters, oyster stew, clam chowder, all are perfect little pearls even if they do not really contain one.

For sure, the universe is so vast it is mind blowing to think of the possibilities.

Nice post. I found it informative and I agree that thinking about the universe and other related things like eternity can be a bit "squirrly in the head." I remember as a kid I would think about such things and would become overwhelmed with a feeling of...I'm not sure exactly...doom perhaps. I havent had that feeling in decades. I wonder why? Anyway, I like what you said about the space in mathematics and how we are Inbetweeners. Interesting.

Love the squirrel pic and how you brought it in with the text. :-) That's fun!

Good luck in season 2!

Thank you, I don't like just text, got to have a picture in there somewhere. And that squirrel is a crack up at time.

I agree - pictures really do help. Sometimes I have posts that don't lend themselves to pictures...like the ones I make for my non-profit organization. I always feel like they are missing something, but there's not really a good image to use. I don't really like the idea of grabbing a generic image from the internet somewhere. Soon, we will have pics of our own from fundraisers and other things we are doing. Until then, I'll have to remain pictureless.
