A Long Journey From "Old" Science To "New" Fashion

in #india5 years ago

It seems lately, I develop a liking of the old school methods. From traditional way of home remedies to the old clothing style, I start favouring them a lot. There are many logic and science applied behind all these old schools lessons and application. The curiosity to know more is developing day by day. In pursuit, Recently, I came across few people wearing some old traditional wooden slippers, they were the sages who were looking for monetary help to celebrate the auspicious *sawan" month. Though it was hard to click them especially the legs, however, luckily I have one from the museaum which is very look alike to what they wearing.

I am referring to the "KHADAU" which is traditional footwear used by many sages and saints in ancient days and quite popular among Asian and middle East countries.

Surprisingly, it is not the case with new generation people who always looking for some good quality footwear. Fancy shoes to expensive slippers, made up of leather, cloth, rubber, foam and many new material that may give comfort to the feet are available in market. Companies like Adidas, Nike , Puma are major brands which comes up everday with many advance and innovative techniques and materials to make your long walk less tiring and give cushion to your feet. The shoes are available in all ranges, and craze to keep your feet better entice people to keep buying more and more of the new footwear that were introduced everyday in the market.

Our old schools or the ancient people were not dependent on the comfort, however they use to wear footwear made up of wooden planks, and with knob/ hook, fixed / engraved at the front to make way for toe fingers. It help them to hold on the wooden planks at bottom. Frankly, it was not easy to hold on these "KHADAU" for long . Still in early days, sages , saints and many people use to roam long distances using the wooden footwear. Interestingly, there are certain scientific reasons for wearing them in early days.

Wooden planks or KHADAU on the foot helps to control the electrical waves generated in our body against the earth gravitational forces. Electric currents flowing in the body are absorbed by the earth due to gravity. They knew that wood was an insulator for electricity.

This shows our ancestors, were more intelligent, who already debated upon the "Theory of Gravity" before the modern generation discover them. Another theory says that, wearing leather is not permissible in certain religion, and there is question of durability on cloth material. So left with natural wooden way to prevent the wear and tear on your legs. Apart from the logical gravity concept, there are other benefits too of wearing the wooden planks

  • These footwear helps in Controlling the Blood circulation in the body. And keeps the heart beat in check.

  • Wearing KHADAU helps in strengthening legs muscles. And control any kind of physical and mental pressure.

  • The most important benefits, is KHADAU which helps in keep your posture straight and supports the rib bones

We have special mention of KHADAU in Ramayana too. It was said, when Rama went to exile, his brother Bharath had refused to take over the reign. He wanted Rama to be the sole King of Ayodhya. He kept Rama KHADAU and kept worshiping it everyday till Rama came back.

Amazingly, our new generation is living more of glamorous and materialistic life, just to show off things. They want to be better than others, however they forget the old science behind the invention of so many new footwears. Now a days many prechers and saints still be seen with the old KHADAU on their foot. Keeping the old tradition alive. Next time, If I ever come across any of these antique, I am gonna make use of it.

Stay Calm....

So many theories about footwear. What DOES seem to matter a lot is to wear natural materials (and not rubber which blocks the electromagnetic forces) - barefoot is wonderful and most common for the highest monks here in Thailand.
