OYO -India's largest hospitality company
There was a time in India when hotels were too expensive and people had almost no choice but to pay for those expensive hotel rooms. We did not have services like Airbnb or any budget hotels around us.
Then OYO came into picture. An Indian guy launched a startup company named OYO where he tied up with some hotels and provided hotel like rooms at a much cheaper price. It was a very talked about idea at that time - everyone was talking about it.
In no time, the company progressed well. They launched their hotel chains like Edition O and OYO Townhouse which were even better in their architecture and prices. I have visited quite some OYO hotels over the time on my travels - experience varies. Some OYO have gaps in their mattresses and some have bad staff but most of them turn out fine as per their price. It just that you need to check picture before booking in case you are too particular.
Let's look at one of the OYO hotel I visited recently. I reached their around 9pm and it got dark. Here is the outside look, they had their giant bar code out there on their pretty architecture - it looked interesting.
Now here is the reception area - nice and clean
Now here is the room I got
The Giant Almirah
On a whole wall, their almirah size is weird. Cupboards on a full wall -a whole family of people can hide in it. Hmmmm
Interesting conversation on the bed:
The Big red curtains:
The chair and the table
I liked the yellow chair alot:
Washroom
Let's see the washroom. It was quite good in size too:
Colorful Little Lawn
Now when I was checking out the next morning, I noticed their pretty colorful little lawn:

thank you, I appreciate it :)
That a rather cleaver way to go about it. I always prefer cheaper hotels myself. It’s just a place you end up sleeping for a few hours unless you end up stuck in a very boring area.
haha yes cheaper but not boring

I've been following this company through softbank, but I didn't really understand how they worked. So is it kind of like a hostel but apartment style? It looks pretty fancy/open, so maybe not as private as a hotel?
no its like a hotel service only, but budget hotels so cheaper and very little compromise with the services
