Do You Know of a More Stupid Reason For Banning Internet In a City?
I live in Udaipur which is one of the 33 Districts of Rajasthan in India. It has a population of over 3 million people …roughly equal to the population of Oman or Iowa State of USA.
It is a very peaceful region. But time and again, local administration here decides to put a ban on the internet services on some pretext or the other.
No internet for Udaipur on 14th & 15th July
On the coming weekend, a competitive examination for recruitment in the State Police services is going to be conducted at various centres in the city. The exam is called Rajasthan Police Constable Entrance Exam. About 28,000 candidates are expected to take part in this exam. Taking into account the possibility of irregularities in this examination, CCTV camera and jammers are installed at all the 24 centres.
In addition to this, administration has decided to ban the internet services for two days on 14th & 15th July, 2018. Superintendent of Police, Mr. Goyal stated that initially they tried to ban the internet only in specific areas but since there are 24 centres, they are going to ban internet in the entire district on those two days.
Isn’t it ridiculous that administration is unable to conduct a fair examination for 14,000 students in a day without banning internet services in the region? By comparison, JEE (Main) – which is recognized as one of the toughest examination of the world, is taken by 1.2 million students throughout the country. What about secondary & senior secondary examinations? About 1.34 million students took part in NEET-2018 exams across India. Does that means, internet should be banned all over the country for organizing these exams?
Unfortunately, the local administration is taking undue advantage of the peaceful residents of this city and is deciding to ban internet on 14th & 15th July in the entire district.
But I think there may be more stupid reason to ban internet in the world,

Having honest policeofficers is worth a lot!
That's true but sadly, this exam doesn't ensure that. IMHO, honesty and integrity are values which are difficult to test by a written examination.
