Keindahan kabupaten gayo sangat dikenal dari dulu,yang memiliki kekayaan alam yang amat banyak,penghasilan kopi yang luar biasa,keindahan alam yang menakjubkan salah satu nya yang terkenal di kabupaten tersebut adalah danau laut tawar. Danau tersebut memiliki banyak sejarah masa lalu,yang di kenal dengan sejaran (putro ijo).
Sampan yang berlayar di danau mencari ikan tawar untuk keperluan hidup suatu keluarga. Banyak memiliki penghasilan dari danau tersebut untuk kebutuhan hidup suatu keluarga yang tinggal di daerah dekat danau tersebut.
