Loang Baloq Beach So Location of Hilal Monitoring in Lombok

Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Mataram Geophysics Station, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), will hold an initial monitoring of Syawal's hilal on Thursday (14/6) at Loang Baloq Beach, Mataram. Head of Mataram Geophysics Station Agus Riyanto said, the monitoring of the new moon will be centered at Loang Baloq Beach which became one of the tourist destinations in Mataram.

The plan is to monitor the moon at Islamic Center NTB, but finally we focus on one point only in Loang Baloq Beach," Agus told Republika.co.id in Mataram, NTB, Wednesday (13/6).

Agus said, the monitoring of the new moon will begin at 17.00 WITA. BMKG will deploy six personnel who join the team from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of NTB region, and from UIN Mataram.

Agus rate, the selection of Loang Baloq Beach as a hilal monitoring center for facilitating the team in seeing the new moon. That's because on the beach the view is not blocked by anything.

"We want to see the new moon, if the beach is not closed, if you see the height of the hilal is seven degrees more, it should be visible, but depending on the weather also tomorrow may be bright," said Agus added.
