Susan Sontag said once:

I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list.

For now I'll start with Bali.

Very shorty I'll be on my very first trip ever to Indonesia. Reason enough to begin preparing my travel bag early. Yet, for the program that's expecting me there, I actually don't need much: Summery comfy clothes, surf suits, sun protection - and that's it!

Did I miss something?

These are some of the spots I'm planning to visit:

Uluwatu, Bukit, Ubud and of course Keramas, the place where I'll be staying and where the WSL surf championships will take place.

Thanks to the great article Bali's Hidden Gems from @rok-sivante I feel as if I won't miss any highlights on the island.

If there's any additional secret spot you'd want to recommend me, feel free to do it - I'd appreciate that a lot!

For the rest of the day I'll be watching Bali videos, enjoying the pleasant anticipation to the max :-)

I hope you're having a great day, too!

Much love,
Marly -

Enjoy Indonesia!! We hope you'll have a superb time there... We hope to see some posts about places you visit, since we plan to visit Indonesia too :)

Thank you!! I'll be surely doing a whole travel series about that Bali trip :-) So you'll get plenty of information about the destination.

Bali isn’t as cheap as it was for food, clothes, transport etc as it once was but the rule is pack half the clothes and twice the money and stock up on the probiotics to strengthen your digestive system to avoid the dreaded Bali Belly.

Thanks for the insider, Stephen! What do you think how much money does one need for food per day? Transportation is already organized (I'll get a scooter from my accomodation).

With regards to the Bali belly one told me: drink a shot of vodka when getting up each morning, then your stomach will be safe! :-D Not sure if I'd be able to follow that one... ha!

You’re lucky you’re travelling with EURO so they go further than the Aussie $. Prices for food vary widely depending on where you eat. The more western the restaurant, usually more expensive it will be, you should be more than ok to budget €25-30 per day. I love Indonesian food and the Balinese people. Make sure your travel insurance covers riding your scooter. Oh and the nip of Vodka in the morning and before bed is a great travellers tip to ward off tummy troubles.

Another great advice regarding the insurance - thank you, Stephen!! I'll definitely check that :-) Also thanks for the price estimation. I was calculating with 50€ per day, so I guess that'd be more than fine, especially considering that breakfast is already included in my accomodation.

I'd recommended taking a fast boat to the Gili Islands, but you'd need at least a few days to fully enjoy the island life! Plus...are you going scuba diving at all...??

Sounds cool! Yet, I don't know if I want to leave my place, since the surf competition is taking place and that's actually the main reason for the trip :-) But I'll keep it in mind - thanks!! Scuba would be something I'd love to try anyways. Do you know any good school in the South-West of Bali?

Yeahh of course, I would feel the same. Maybe it might be an option for the next Bali trip ;) Hmm I know some nice dive spots/schools in the north, near Tulamben. There are plenty in/around Kuta as well but I don't know them personally. Nusa Dua is another good area to go for diving. I'm sure you'd be able to find a school somewhere near where you're staying!

I think where there is sun, there must be a lot of hydration, so besides sunscreen it's good to take care of your skin at night with a good moisturizer, lots of water and enjoy! the thrill of knowing a new destination, is fantastic, I love it, I hope you enjoy a lot and happy day

Thanks for the advice! Taking care of the skin is evident, no doubt about that :-) I'll make sure to get some special products in the duty free shops on my trip though.
Have a happy day, too @melvadg!

Have a save trip...and enjoy!

Dankeschön, das werd ich :-)

:-)

Don't forget a checkup for your photo/film gear 😉

Oh yeah that's an important step! Thanks for the reminder :-))
Basically I've everything ready now... two weeks before take-off, haha

Sounds exciting!! I love your quote about the travel bug, and I can relate about wanting to go everywhere! Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to hearing about it. : )

Thank you so much @karaelizabeth!! Of course I'll be reporting from Bali - or better said do a vlog series about the trip afterwards :-)

"Silahkan mampir ke jawa timur"
"please stop by the East Java"
hehe i am from indonesia, have a nice trip in bali sis :)

Oh I don't think I'll make it there this time.
But probably it wouldn't be my last trip to Indonesia :-)
Thanks for your wishes!

Don't need much in hot places. I'm envious!

That's true. Flip flops and a bikini are actually enough, haha
