He Says Patent That Sh**

So I'm up North with my fiance's family and Troy I don't know if it's her uncle or cousin I believe the latter, but my fiance's sister had like some idea that she just came up with and troy says patent that shit.

I don't think he understood the core principal of what he was saying, what he was saying is "let's use force against anyone who comes up with that same idea and tried to bring it to life"

That is what patents are they are monopoly privileges over ideas, but ideas are not scarce as they are not physical only real objects or resources are scarce.

Let's look at history as an example Henry Ford wanted to build cars, but someone had already patented the gasoline powered car now Ford being a badass did it anyway as he's not stealing he's just creating something using resources and his ideas or even other people's ideas as all ideas can be multiplied to infinity.

Now he ended up going to court and did indeed win thank God!! If Ford didn't win who knows how far behind in automobile technology we would be.

This is just an example why monopolies are never good, because it was in fact the patent the held back innovation as it does in medicine and most things today.

The only reason I must be against patents is because it is opposite of freedom how can you tell me I can't make something with MY labor MY resources AND MY brain just because you thought of the idea of cutting down a tree does not give you the right to physically stop me from cutting down trees especially my trees.

Now I can understand where the argument comes from for patents "well nobody would invent" which is just very ignorant sure maybe certain things might not be invented, but that also happens because of patents so let's at least have freedom.

People will always invent because they know that people could really want what they are making and if you don't want people to copy your idea then develop contracts.

Example if you want to hire someone to help you create this idea it would be smart to develop a contract that has a punishment for copying the idea and if the other party agrees then your golden, now he could still break the contract, but that is why as a punishment I would make it pretty strict.

There would be tons of ways of dissolving disputes in a free society and if we can legalize freedom I think most people would be a lot better off.
