VENEZUELA DOES NOT NEED ANY OTHER BOOT, NOR POD

"Venezuela needs a Pérez Jiménez"

By repeating this, new generations are being educated to believe that the military is required to continue to dominate the country

This is one of the most educational phrases that exist in Venezuela, I say educational because it is uttered by many civilians who think they are royal, but do not realize that when they say they are "educating" in the barracks how much lieutenant dreams of being a new hero and above all collaborating with the "mental chavismo". But also "A lie that is repeated a thousand times becomes truth", phrase of which have been parents Goebbles, the famous minister of Nazi propaganda and Vladimir Lenin.

The truth is that when the planning of the Caracas la Guaira Highway began, Marcos Pérez Jiménez studied in Peru because in Venezuela there were no real military academies. When the general studies were approved -which lasted almost a decade- Pérez Jiménez was hardly a captain of the army and when the blueprints of the entire work were approved in 1947, the future dictator did not even have the remotest possibility of commenting on it.

Nobody cares that Rómulo Betancourt was the one who inaugurated the first section -Maiquetía-Catia la Mar, because the gigantic work demanded the reform of a good part of Caracas and La Guaira before starting. When the great central work was finally tendered to all the big foreign companies in June 1949, Marcos Pérez Jiménez had absolutely nothing to do with the construction of that magnificent work -which lasted more than four years- and in his presentation as president in In 1951, Dr. Germán Suárez Flamerich said that the works were so advanced, that it would probably occur before its inauguration in the first months of 1953, which is why, one year before becoming a dictator, the viaducts, the mountain cuts and almost two thirds of the work was completely finished.
But even when I show you, documents in hand that Marcos Pérez Jiménez had little or nothing to do with the construction of such a work, which was already built in about 85% when he was Minister of Defense, even though you can request all the documents in the National Library or Newspaper Library, most people even after reading this article, will continue saying that the dictator built the highway, only because television taught that inaugurated the final section, which was the smallest and most insignificant of all.

That's what you see in the photos and YouTube with a Pérez Jiménez accompanying, as Minister of Defense, the President of the Republic (Flamerich) but it was not due to any of them, neither to Betancourt, nor to the Board, but like all the others of the National Road Plan, it is owed to the architects, engineers and town planners of the generation of 28, the greatest civil heroes who have given birth to the history of the nation and that despite the crooks and robbers of green, they managed to make Caracas what it is today.

So when many repeat "is that what Venezuela needs is a Pérez Jiménez" because he built the highway, not only is saying something that is not true, but is educating the new generations that what they need is for the military continue to dominate the country.

The same thing happens with the University City, projected and constructed from 1942 and started to run for ten years before the arrival of the dictator, who is accused of its construction when he just inaugurated the works that were already advanced from his tender and being built since 1949. That's why we have to say it clearly and loudly: Pérez Jiménez did not build the Caracas-La Guaira highway, nor did he build the University City. Neither did it project the works that were already designed between 1940 and 1949 of the Simón Bolívar Center, nor the works of the center of Caracas whose central planning was approved in 1939 with which concludes the "French period of Caracas" begun in the era of Guzmán Blanco and that in particular they are due to the giant architects, urban planners and civil engineers of that generation of superheroes of the 28th.

That is why the avenues Andrés Bello, Bolívar (concluded the main work in 1949), Sucre, Nueva Granada, Mexico and Victoria (President Medina), are not works of Pérez Jiménez because they were already in full construction upon arrival and were projected from 1940. To repeat that Pérez Jiménez is a necessity or that he was the one who made them, as if he had really planned those works thanks to his "developmental mentality", not only is it foolish, but he also educates the coronelato that they are the only ones in the capacity to develop Venezuela and we owe them a lot, when we do not owe him a reed, because the history of Venezuela has been a long struggle between prepared civilians and armed politicians.

But I repeat, although the evidence is there, it is impossible for someone on duty to say that he was the dictator, as parrots repeat that Pérez Jiménez eliminated the ranches of Caracas and it will not be worth explaining that when Marcos Pérez Jiménez was captain, they had 7,776 ranches in Caracas, when they named him president, his own census revealed that there were 20,993 and when he left power there were 54,237 ranches in Caracas. In other words, Pérez Jiménez, in his own memoirs, lost the famous "Battle against the ranchos" as Páez lost in 1830 and how we have always lost it, because the ranch can only be eradicated from within and from the heads of its occupants.

Only doing the opposite of what Perez Jimenez did can prosper, that is, produce, create industry, create jobs and a lot of education that battle can be won. For that reason the Venezuela that would inhabit the "Radiant City" planned and built under the influence of none other than Le Corbusier, a true work of art, would turn it into January 23, while the ranch and the marginality began to devour themselves inside to the "Petit-Paris". Because our politicians before or now think that they can take the inhabitant of the ranch to a better place, without first educating them to change the mentality that ranchifica.
Pérez Jiménez is not responsible for planning the neighborhood December 2 (January 23), whose work is due to the same big developers and the same team of architects of the Banco Obrero that created the Delgado Chalbaud and the Paradise before, of what if He was responsible for tripling its size against those developers, because he naively believed that by eliminating the two neighborhoods where the Communists lived, he would get rid of them. And precisely because of being more aware of charging 5% of the commissions for the works "which was perfectly legal" (Perez Jimenez dixit) was the reason why the communists ate it alive.

That is why the main problem was the drama of a country that was not looking for a true development, it was not that Pérez Jiménez was good or bad, but everyone believed that building a "Petit Paris" would bring modernity instead of educating their children, In a country where only the educational institutions were enrolled (according to the memory and account of the dictator), 646 thousand of the 1.7 million children of school age (page 57). But the problem was such that only one out of every 4 children in Venezuela studied a primary school that would allow them to continue the baccalaureate (the rest were first letters) and almost 60% of the population of our beloved country, could not read or write for them. day that Hugo Chávez turned 4 years old.

It was the drama of a nation that preferred to build a tiny hotel on the top of a mountain -work that is the stupidest of our history and that is Perez Jimenez- at the cost of all the schools that were needed. Because the Venezuelan what fills him with pride is to teach an eccentric construction built by the State, instead of the achievements of millions of educated. Absurd works while there were only less than a thousand university students enrolled, because the truth is that the first decree of Pérez Jiménez was to suspend the activities of the University of Mérida and Zulia and the second decree was to decree the closure of the Central and declare it "zone military "leaving Venezuela naked of lights, to attend nothing less than the arrival of the computer age. Because no one understood that we had to stop using Frenchified eccentricities when, from the other side, what they had were poverty, ranches and endemic diseases in full development. We had to invest in industries, in jobs, but above all in education. And of that, the "necessary" dictator was not occupied.

While Perez Jimenez closed the only three universities with less than a thousand students enrolled, only 89 public schools were authorized, of which 47 were built, since the rest were family homes with the "one teacher schools" model. With only the cost of the próceres promenade, the 1,976 that were needed and the budget for five years could have been built. The works planned by Pérez Jiménez, were actually the biggest and most expensive blunders in our history, the tiny Hotel Humboldt serves for everything but hotel, it devours millions of dollars a year in maintenance and operations, without casino and even with it, the losses are gigantic. The Guaicamacuto Hotel would have to be remodeled three times, because after its inauguration and the first arrival of foreign tourists, they complained that no room had a bathroom inside, so it had to be demolished inside and sold to the Sheraton. That was a Venezuela with new rich airs, who never understood their priorities.

Finally the phrase that this article calls always comes with "is that with Pérez Jiménez you could sleep with the door open" deceiving the listener, as if it were thanks to a police state that could sleep peacefully, when the reality is that the provincial Venezuela of the fifties, like that of virtually the entire planet, were simple societies in which there was no greater violence. They deceive with the phrase, because that Venezuela will never return, as the 1950s will not return in the United States, nor in Europe.

That is why those who repeat dangerously that Pérez Jiménez is a necessity, permanently educate the coronelato in the academies, with that of which the problems of Venezuela can be solved by a single uniformed man and not the millions of Venezuelans being educated. They permanently teach that a single colonel can solve the issue of ranches, substituting them for Mission Housing, a single colonel can solve the issue of crime with a police state. A single colonel can put to produce more oil praying, a single colonel can make produce the field, improve the economy or can become a power. That is what they actually say, those who invoke Pérez Jiménez.

And if he does not succeed, it is because it is not the correct colonel and they start looking for another one. The reality is not that the military ruled us for so many centuries because of the threat of their weapons, but because of the weakness and cowardice of civilians who do not want to take the reins of their destiny, constantly opening the doors that: "here what It takes a military man. "

A phrase so simplistic, so foolish and so absurd that borders on the homicidal. A phrase that every time it is repeated and listened to by a lieutenant like Hugo Chávez, he thinks that upon passing his General Staff exam he is ready to continue "developing" Venezuela. Those who repeat this need are the civilians who permanently yearn for a military boot and are the ones who are already educating the next Hugo Chávez in the barracks.
No friends, Venezuela does not need a Pérez Jiménez, but the competition of millions of civilians educated in all areas and branches of knowledge, and not politicians of trade and leisure.
! Another boot never again, or pod!

Excellent post, @capuzin. This is the kind of critical history rewriting that must be done so that new generations of Venezuelans can assess in proper perspective how we became what we became (for good or bad).
Official versions, like news, are always suspect. But in this era of immediacy and global connections, people are s gullible they eat and swallow/believe the most outrageous pills that are given to them.
Keep doing this amazing work.
