Helping people understand that gun control doesn't work.

But-Gun-Free-Zones-Work.jpg

We are tasked with a very difficult endeavor. How do we help the average person that has been brainwashed by mainstream media and the public school system understand that any further gun control would be detrimental to our country.

We must show them facts and try to teach them about how this country was first founded and that the traditions we have here and our Constitution is the reason why we have all of the other freedoms besides what is outlined in the 2nd Amendment. No other country besides the United States has freedom of speech. Ask yourself why that might be?

"The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

  • Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria), 1774-1776

Thomas-Jefferson(3).jpg

The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed."

  • Thomas Jefferson, letter to to John Cartwright, 5 June 1824

"On every occasion [of Constitutional interpretation] let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying [to force] what meaning may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, [instead let us] conform to the probable one in which it was passed."

We need to start having real conversations with people we work with, friends, family etc. Exposing them to common sense and teaching them why that our rights should never been given up or bargained away no matter what. It's time to wake up people.

This is one of the issue with the control debate, most don't know it's real history and do go off into ti-raids with their own bias.
The history goes all way back to 1101, but is more relevant in the 1600s. Seriously, look here for what "To Bear Arms" really meant, and why the phrase it's self is a misunderstanding.
Beyond that, the "Control" was simply religious persecution, and had nothing to do with the "will" or "freedom" of people. It was zealotry.

to me it's simple, if a law against guns would work why not just make a law against shooting people
wait, that law already exists and it doesn't work because criminals are defined as people who break laws?
well damn, I guess gun control will not work then

they either keep pace with the facts or they don't I mean

Very good point. We could also look at the places in the US that already gave the strictest gun control, and see how insanely violent and lawless they have become.

only criminals have guns so they do as they like

Good post friend, you're right, many people don't have the common sense to realize many things, such as the fact that criminals if they are willing to kill someone will of course be willing to have a gun illegally. Arms control would only make the American population more defenseless.

There is no such thing as an immoral object.

A gun is a tool - like a hammer. Your closing paragraph mentions the real issue here; an asleep public with no common-sense. I definitely agree with boycotting mainstream media.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. Really appreciate all of your opinions. Now let's save this country.
