The secret behind a force or people with a driving force is motivation. The functions of the leader(s) of a group may supersede the existence of such groups which are thus; "to motivate and maintain the group's morale, which will make people think less of themselves and more about the group".
Naturally, humans are self -oriented and individualistic based. That is, they think more of themselves and less of others or groups.

NB: It should be noted that this content and every other related content on this subject is not aimed to stir up any individual, association or communities to rebel. But just a logical reasoning for building the subconscious minds.

The antidote to obvious of the human being attribute would be identified below. But first, let examine how you can ensure the organization or group you run doesn't become a nightmare.
Just exactly the way any citizen of a nation or country will seek a better refuge or necessaries (goods) for himself and family! That is the pure definition of how individuals that belong to a group operate too. Although, one can say this act is not treacherous so far the good outweighs the bad.

But I want you to understand the fact that the singular effort made by an individual amount to nothing while a collective effort or work of several individuals or group(s) amounts to a force and imminent danger. To this effect, a leader or a general of a force must involve their group in a "cause". And make them see that their survival is tied to the success of the group/army as a whole. Meanwhile, the General must lead from the front, as an exemplary case study; your soldiers must see you in the trenches. You being the General must have to sacrifice for the cause. This will encourage them and fill them with the desire to emulate you.

⚠ CAUTION: DON'T WAIT TILL WHEN THERE'S A PROBLEM IN THAT ORGANIZATION OR GROUP, START THESE PRINCIPLES NOW!

• Form a coalition and make them fight for a CAUSE or an IDEA. Imprint on their mind a strength to fight for the same ideology and see how they would fight. Individuals have a thirst when it comes to believing in a cause. It is advisable to have some enemy driven hatred.
• Ensure to always feed them, when they don't have. A stomach fed, equals a strength built.
• Be their tour guide on the mission
• In Chinese, they have a belief in an energy called Ch'i. They believe it is in every individual, activate and understand their ch'i to be able to manipulate it for the good of the group.
• Be ruthless with rebels and grumblers.

You don't want to be too flexible and at the same time rigid with your decisions to the soldiers. Hence, when you are too flexible, they turn lackadaisical and if you are rigid; they turn rebels.
What to do right?
Raise their hope for a glory, that without the glory; everyone, everything seize to exist.
