On the afternoon of this Thursday, February 7, the first containers with humanitarian aid sent by the United States to Venezuela arrived at the Tienditas bridge on the Colombian side.

After 2:30 in the afternoon (Colombian time) began to arrive the first gandolas loaded with medicines and food that will be stored in the warehouses of this collection center arranged by the Colombian government.

After the confirmation of the chancellor of Colombia, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, of the landing of airplanes in New Granada territory, organizations defending human rights since early hours of this Thursday were stationed in the vicinity of the bridge to witness the arrival of assistance.

Two gandolas with containers of 50 tons each and 6 trucks with medication and food entered the facilities of the collection center escorted by the National Police of Colombia.

On Saturday the president of the National Assembly and who was sworn in as president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, announced that an international coalition was preparing the necessary logistics to install collection centers in their countries, to receive humanitarian assistance and then send it to Venezuela, a of those nations would be Colombia, specifically in the city of Cúcuta.

A commission of the National Assembly mobilized this February 6 to the North of Santander, to witness the arrival of the first aid that they expect to enter the national territory to serve approximately 300 thousand people from vulnerable sectors.

The National Government, until now, has refused to allow the entry claiming that the country has to buy medicine and food, but the sanctions imposed by the United States does not allow it, in this sense they have insisted on the lifting of sanctions.

In addition, the Government has maintained the thesis that the United States wants to intervene militarily to Venezuela justifying humanitarian aid.
