America's Gun Violence: Solutions Pt. 1

in #informationwar6 years ago (edited)

I have spent too much time talking about what won't solve the issue, and not enough on what would.

Compared to other developed countries with high rates of gun ownership, we have a uniquely high rate of gun crime. This is an important issue, but I believe it is dishonestly framed. The United States has a crime problem, and given our overall crime rate, gun crime is not anomalously high. This would indicate that the gun crime rate is more or less correlated to the overall crime rate, meaning that a lower overall rate should decrease gun crime occurrence as well. This will be a series on certain changes I think we should make and why so as to reduce our crime rates.

1. Repeal Drug Laws

We in America have a fixation with turning our moral inclinations into law. The temperance movement got the 18th amendment passed, prohibiting the sale of alcohol from 1920-1933. Those who know the history will also know that this was one of the most violent times in our history (not counting the civil war). As you can see from the graph, the rate of murders fell rapidly after the repeal of the 18th amendment.

This trend seems to have replicated with the passing of the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970 and Nixon's establishment of the DEA. It is hard to say the exact effects as we still have these policies on the Federal level, but as individual states have decriminalized marijuana, the crime rate has fallen.

This has been one is a series of changes I propose to curtail America's crime problem. Let me know what you think below for a free upvote and reply!

Stop the war on drugs, reduce gun legislation so there are fewer easy targets like Chicago, remove minimum wages so nobody is priced out of entering a legitimate starting point job, and deincentivize single parent households by gutting the wellfare state. Cut medicare and medicaid drastically and erradicate social security. Strategically reform military and defense spending and lower or remove as many taxes as possible.

People will be swimming in money and opportunity and anyone dumb enough to resort to crime will likely get shot in legitimate self defense, thus sending a clear message to other dumbasses to grow the hell up and go straight. Then, everyone willing to participate and take responsibility for themselves will do fantastic and you'll rapidly see the lowest murder rates in the history of the world.

The drug war is one very valid factor but the general theme as far as I can tell is the idea that the government can take the role of the parent and anybody can live like a tantrum throwing child their whole life if they wish. You get what you incentivize and the government is incentivizing some horrible life choices at the moment.

Or ban guns because they scare some people, what do I know right?

yeah I am totally with you on all of that. This will be a series of proposals and I was planning on covering most of those. Glad to know I am not crazy!

Have a follow, you seem like a smart person

The problem is that although you are correct, you are in the wrong ball-field.

The force for getting rid of guns comes from the state, the elite, those who want ultimate control. And the thing that prevents ultimate control is people thinking, who have guns to defend that thinking for themselves.

The regular people aren't even concerned with the growing crime rate. They talk about none of the things that actually impact the crime rate. You can't even talk about Chicago being a center of crime.

Further, the police have their hands tied when dealing with any crime. The citizens are arrested for fighting crime.

Defending yourself is illegal.
(Imagine going to jail, because you shot at someone driving a truck, who tried to run you and your bicycle over three times)

The psychopaths in power want the crime, and the want the population disarmed. Thus, you get this shtupid, "war on guns".

anyone with an eye to statistics would see that these policies are responsible for a rise in crime, and gun crime at that. The fact that all major party members across the board support continued prohibitions on drugs shows that they don't care about solving the issues as much as looking like they are solving the issues.

Most of the crime is caused by gang violence. A lot of their revenue comes drugs and human trafficking from the southern border. Need future voters and labor that is not subjected to government regulations on wages to unfairly compete against Americans. The profits end up in banking system.

More crime requires more government to solve the problems caused by the government in the first place. The population turns against each other instead of looking into who is pulling the government's strings. Its a very profitable situation no one in power really wants to fix.

yep, they just want to look like they are constantly working on fixing it while doing nothing. If they fix it, then they aren't need.
