Norwegian Department Of Labour Nominate The #Metoo Movement To The Nobel Peace Price
Labour Minister Anniken Hauglie in Norway want to give the nobel peace price to the metoo-movement.
When I nominate metoo to the peace price it's not because I'm so preoccupied with the type of harassment that happens in the work place - which is serious enough (she had to add of course). I'm thinking about how rape of women and children is used as warfare.
My comment to this is that it's very unfortunate to nominate metoo. Why? Because what people indeed DO associate with this movement is exactly that - safe western women with more rights than any other humans who has ever walked the planet, including white men, that nag and complain about men spreading their legs on subways and the way we try to explain them things.
That's what we associate metoo with. So it doesn't really matter that your idea was actually a little bit more noble than that.
Also, you're forgetting one important thing. Yes, rape of women in war is horrible. But it seems like you are forgetting that men are actually the ones that are KILLED in war. As I am not a relativist I would dare go out on a limb here and say that being shot and killed is worse than being raped. At least you live in most cases.
Keep in mind, that its you and your colleagues that are sending men into war and fascilitating rape of women and the death of men. It's you who scheme and play games that young men die from. So to see a politician virtue signal like that only makes me want to puke my guts out.

I bet all those women in war- torn areas will be really proud to watch a bunch of Hollywood whores who slept with Weinstein for fame and money accept the prize in their name. Oh, I forget, the real victims have greater things to worry about than bloody hashtags, things like surviving another day and feeding their children.

The Nobel peace price has long ago become far too politicized, and very much removed from the Nobel's wish from his testament, hence there is actually possible that the metoo-campaign will get this prize.
The #metoo campaign has been an eye-opener for me, never knew it was such a huge problem (for instances, hearing stories about Norwegian top politicians being out in foreign continents representing Norway officially - and behaving like a real douche bag - well, most politicians are douche bags anyway, but at least they should try to behave when being on a diplomatic mission). Still, the metoo-activity is very much remote from the purpose of the Nobel peace prize.
The peace prize has also frequently been used for promoting environmental work. I think it would be more appropriate to create a new prize (like they did with the economic prize) for environmental efforts rather than high-jacking the peace prize for such purposes.

Don't worry, the Nobel Peace Prize is worth nothing, Obama has one. We should look at the Oscars and the Emmys, because modern politics is a theater.
Nobody in Europe is drafted into military service by force. Anyone who does not want to sign the treaty to kill other people in the event of war cannot be forced to do so. There is the means of conscientious objection.
Your testimony implies that men will be sent to war against their will, so it's a false claim. You have the opportunity to escape it. They're not victims that might get killed. Anyone who becomes a soldier should be aware of the consequences and know the contract that you make between yourself and the government. You must be ready to kill. If you're not, no government in the world will make you kill anyone.
Dispelling this fact (I won't have to kill if all goes well) also doesn't make you free from the responsibility of having knowingly and willingly decided to do military service. You are always responsible for your own salvation.
In my opinion, it is far too far to take rape as a result of civil service and then blame it on a government. It is not the state that is involved, but exactly the man and the woman in such a scenario.
Like many others, Meetoo is a phenomenon that passes through the media like a PR wave. Why do you even take it seriously?
Rape is not something a woman chooses. That much should be clear. And you can't compare it to a military service in which the probability is given in advance that in the worst case I could be killed as a soldier. However, a raped woman has never signed a contract in which she agrees to the likelihood of becoming a victim.
It is easy to see that it is not wise to indicate sexual favours and then not to comply with them. Nevertheless, rape must not be seen as a legitimate consequence of stupid decisions. "It's your own fault," you seem to say to raped women with your article and your reaction in the comments. Why this cynicism?
To propose a Nobel Prize for the movement can be the politician's intention to profile herself. But who knows? If you don't charge it with meaning, it doesn't get any.
Equality for women also means that they produce stupid, thoughtless behaviour in public that does not correspond to your views and attitudes. Human civilizations always contain clever and stupid elements. Why puke on realities?
