Mastersoft's Dystopian National ID Will Track You Online and Off

In a recent tweet, Mastercard signaled it is working with Microsoft to create universally recognized digital identities. Is it not bad enough that Microsoft key logs and spies upon your every move with their new operating service? People who continue to use telemetry infected Windows products have already sold their privacy for convenience. Those that purchase this data in bulk, companies like Cambridge Analytica claim to have 4-6 thousand data points on every single American. Imagine the power that bankers and tech titans will have when they merge these data points from your online activity and combine them with your real life credit card transactions.

First, your anonymity will be immediately gone when you anchor your credit card to a digital identity. By using the ID to log into online services, it means no matter what handle you choose, you will have zero privacy. Let’s say you buy the latest Halo game and Microsoft requires a digital ID to log in. You’re just a gamer, and you don’t want to over think it, so you give them the ID and log into your account as CamperSlayer69. Hours into the gameplay, you start shit-talking about people who sexually identify as Aloe Vera plants. A week later you’re surprised to see a letter in the mail from Microsoft it says they’ve canceled your account because you spoke ‘hatefully’ about a Federally protected gender identity.

So what is this universally recognized digital identity? Maybe it is a code for the National ID card, or maybe it’s worse... Maybe it’s mission creep that will bring us to a Chinese-style social credit score type of system? Perhaps if you speak, or post unapproved thoughts and ideas to the internet, you will have your credit card canceled? After reading the above tweet, it reminded me a lot of this recent movie called ‘The Circle’ where a tech company plotted to use their population infiltration technology (aka social media) to become indistinguishable from government itself.
