I agree with you. The primary responsibility of any government should be to take care of its people. Unfortunately the more common template seems to be taking of the few at the expense of the many, and because of that it should be voted out, overthrown or replaced.
Here is a good place to add the postscript at the end of Blum's write-up which I omitted in my original post:
"Q: Why will there never be a coup d’état in Washington?
