Demagogues Taking Over Blockchain Communities: BCH Creator Gets Banned From Slack + Message From Dash Community

in #informationwar6 years ago

You know things with the power of keyoard warriors have reached a terrible point when pioneers themselves get banned. BCH creator Deadalnix (Amaury Séchet) got banned from the main Bitcoin Cash Slack channel. The mod had the nerve to brag about it.

Says a lot about the mod. These are the kind of people who would have done great in a bureaucracy. Blockchain communities (not necessarily projects) are getting infested by the very people that built the systems that we fight against.

What The Redditors Are Saying

Jesus Christ, I never expected to see that name come up again. /u/joeldalais is some weirdo from the UK. I've seen him at several meets trying to peddle his bullshit and desperately try to make himself relevant. He's barely literate and like to copy paste vague explanations of things he's heard other say and then when questioned deeper he falls back on some "you don't understand", "I'm not good at explaining" bullshit. This is a guy that tried to hype a coin with built in KYC or some shit, like he thought it would actually be a good idea. Add that to his exchange he tried to run that did around $1000 volume then closed down. The guy is a leech that tries to associate himself with other people. I've had many a laugh with other crypto enthusiasts about how he likes to allude to having secret information that he can't spill, usually about CSW. This guy is literally psychotic. Someone get him to do an interview on their YouTube channel, it would be hilarious.

I was part of the private chatroom "lionsden" in bchchat before I was banned for speaking out against supreme ruler Craig Steven Wright.
Joeldalais one day uploaded a document from his doctor describing how he had some sort of learning disabilities early on, and did not speak much when young, and had trouble with communication.
Normally I would have never brought this up, but this guy acts like a total asshole and is becoming as bad as the BlockstreamCore censors.
He's toxic, and a power hungry keyboard warrior.

The Reason: Supporting More Usability

As I mentioned in my last post developing something that you'd want to use would result in prosperity to everybody those who engage with the development.

Amaury Séchet was very vocal about pre-consensus which is basically trying to do what Dash InstantSend and its imitators are doing without actually using the masternodes. He even said “While all these projects have value, it is clear that I need to ruthlessly prioritize pre-consensus”. There could be problems with development and maybe even some attack vectors. But it is something that would allow people to pay for their coffee without having to wait for some 10 minutes for confirmations.

Bitcoin is Full of Cave-Dwellers

the reason I say this is because they are so backwards when it comes to real developments. Take this comment from a community member:

Shortening the block time skews the probabilities that favor only the fastest of the fastest miners which erodes decentralization as the difficulty must be lowered drastically to confirm the sub-blocks. Pre-consensus by confirming sub-block by sub-block constricts the block time into seconds whereby the fastest miner will win too frequently. Sub-blocks are effectively no different than other so-called "fast coins" such as Dogecoin, ETH, LTC, feathercoin, worldcoin, etc. which all shorten the 10 min block time and claim, "look how much better and smarter we are!" This is why Craig calls this crap.

  • Armando Anderson

These comments deserve nothing but cringe and contempt. Unless the block time gets to the sub-minute zone there is no way these claims are going to hold any value. Since technology is evolving so fast sub-minute lock times could easily end up becoming the norm. Decentralizaion for the sake of it is toxic and should be avoided like plague.

Nobody is in control means that nobody is responsible. Such community can only be held by sharing values and having cohesion.

This is one of those occasions where Dash community makes me proud. Yesterday Tao Of Satoshi shared these great word on the Dash Nation Discord channel. I'd like to share the message with all of the STEEM community.

"It's no secret that 2018 has been hard on everyone in Dash, and in cryptocurrency in general. We had an extreme windfall in 2017, and many expected the good times to continue into 2018. Despite of good news being reported daily througout the industry, prices have been relentlessly declining and our investments shrinking. This has undoubtedly led to higher tensions, and people looking for answers."

"I have been in cryptocurrency for a long time, and I will tell you that what we are seeing now in the markets is not without precedent. This pattern of good news/price declines has been seen before, and although I do not have a crystal ball, I am very confident that we will see a return to a bull market at some point in the future."

"This leads me to the point of this post. What we do in the interim has a lasting impression on how the community will fair in the future. Please remember and live the values that has made Dash Nation strong, through the good times, and especially the bad times. We do not have control over price, we do have control over how we conduct ourselves and create an environment that is positive for Dash to thrive in the good times, and show resiliency in the bad."

"Be wary of speculation as fact, ad hominems, and people who judge others based on perceived intentions, not based on the facts or opinions that they are presenting. Sometimes trolls can have valid points, and sometimes long-time community members can be wildly off-base. Concentrate on facts, not the people behind them and we will come out stronger. Be respectful and courteous to others, this goes a long way."

A Universal Message Through Example

"Dash Nation has a strong reputation for being a mature, professional, welcoming community, and this has led to a lot of like-minded people joining us. I appeal to you to not let people who may seek to throw a wedge into our community, and make us lose our way that has made us so successful. Take the high road when in such situations, and we will not have to look back to an ugly history when the good times roll again."

"I value you all and am proud to stand with you as a member of Dash Nation. Let's hold ourselves to a higher standard, and display the values that made this community so great. We will all come out stronger for it in the end."

"Cheers, The Dash Nation on Discord Team."

This is What All Communities Should Be Like

Freedom or Anarchy doesn't mean living without rules or doing whatever you want. Freedom is simply about living by your own rules. Be good. Be professional. Lean & Teach others. Pay it forward!

Well said. Mud slinging is all over the place and its quite sickening.

Welcome back!
Hope your projects are going well :-)

Sounds like there are a few Jerry Banfields out in cryptoland.

Things get really bad when it comes to Bitcoin and Monero. Dogecoin on the other hand has a really nice community. Dash and PIVX are great as usual.

is there a way to buy steem with a credit card?

None that I know of. You'll have to buy a fast and cheap to transfer coin like Dash and exchange it with STEEM.

interesting, thanks.
