The problem of the police is associated with every country as the police is said to pose authority which is not backed by law. In Nigeria and Thailand, the police needs no warrant to search you. They do it on their freewill and the people who are affected by this are the third class citizens whom probably have no money to hire a law or fire a case at the court.

In recent time, the police has tend to forget their duty as officers of the law and instead of going after drug lords, they forsake that and go after the common man on the street who is struggling to earn a living and without any notice served, gets arrested and sometimes crimes are not stated until you get to the station. The force was established to help protect lives of citizens against theft, criminals and even hoodlums but now, they do otherwise. Most times when properties of those who are arrested are taken for safekeeping, the police cannot account for missing items. The police are now the ones robbing people off their belonging and most times, the culprit behind it cannot be found or they simply ignore because they are trying to protect the name of the force by not exposing their corrupt officers.

In Nigeria, never for once has it been heard that a politician for arrested for siphoning money meant for his people and as low as a dollar bribe given to the people on highway, they would not check a car. The police mount road blocks nearly everywhere even when there is no red alert and they do that so they can extort money from motorist plying that way. Even when a driver's paper happens to be complete, they still won't listen to that unless you offer them a bride before they will let you go.

Shouldn't the citizens protect themselves if the government forces fails to do so?

Why are they no agency checkmating the activities of the police

With numerous assault against citizens. yet none of them are being charged

What is the essence of the police, If they can't protect lives
