Is the Digital Thought Ghetto the State’s Answer to Future DeepFake Legal Decay?

in #informationwar5 years ago (edited)

Reality malleability is becoming increasingly plausible in the near digital future. Fake news was just the beginning, because those were mostly “just words”. Move over AutoCAD. Now pictures, video and audio will multiply the effect 1000x on mainstream media’s lack of credibility. People already questioned whether the Moon landing really happened long before the internet was popular.

Soon deep fake technology will be so good that truth will become indistinguishable from lies and exif data will not be able to save the legal system from degenerating into arbitrary rules that have no logical basis. Digital proof will eventually no longer be “proof” in a court of law because all of it can currently be faked.

That police cam capturing a crime in progress could be altered by either the police to convict or in mid stream by hackers to exonerate. The Yellow Vests protests could be amplified digitally to show millions participating, or minimized to look like a turnout of about a dozen people. The only solution to this is to actually be there.

Could the word of an individual actually begin to hold more weight in a court of law than digital evidence? This is currently not the case as digital evidence typically holds great weight in prosecutions. But soon, any lawyer using the “I don’t think the defendant has the technical sophistication” excuse will soon be met with the argument “that any 5 year old can do it”.

The Digital Thought Ghetto

Many currently in the sprawling digital panopticon being erected before us aren’t even aware of the problem. Fakes have been relatively easy to spot in the past, but by the early 2020’s, AI and machine learning will make it nearly impossible to distinguish what is real and what is not in the digital world. The US deep state has tried to stay ahead of this by firewalling its technology, but that is an exercise in futility that can only delay its inevitability of being widespread.

Platforms such as FB and Twitter try to corral the political zeitgeist by limiting the imagination of the public and keeping the political discourse within a narrow range of acceptable opinion. But this will backfire on the legal system because witness heuristics will require an increasing range of worldly experience. This is because experience is currently the only way to get a good false positive to false negative ratio of reality which allows us to discern truth. Without it, the court system will disintegrate into a cesspool of lies masquerading as truth.

Small Lies Compound to make Big Lies Acceptable

Analytics firms can now currently manipulate public opinion on a massive scale using altered digital images. They aren't just confined to manipulating the search algorithms or shadow bans, but they can replace reality with what they want you to see and think. This won't happen by jumping right into the big lie.

They will build up a series of small lies that support each other in the narrative and get you to accept those as truth first. Then they will incrementally move the goal post to where they want your thinking to be. Big data is one of the main culprits that gives them the ability to pull this off. What is the solution?

These technologies work largely because data mining has been inverted. It used to be the case that individuals learned and there was no collective to capture information. Then governments started creating analog files on all of its citizens. Then eventually they migrated that data into a digital platform.

Now we're beginning to see machine learning apply AI at the government level used to predict future political trends. Precrime algorithms will begin to predict when and where crimes will hit next. It's also a massive security risk having the world know more about your life than you do yourself. The answer is to leave centralized platforms such as FB, Twitter, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, etc...

The article above talks about how nation states are working to protect themselves from the weaponized applications of digital data mining. You need to do the same thing for your personal life before it is too late. The public has become transparent and government has become private: it should be the reverse if you value your freedom. Ultimately it is very dangerous to trust such technology to government and centralized technocrats. What do you think they will do when precrime predicts that government is itself the problem?

Is there no way out of this digital quagmire?

A Blockchain Based Digital Jury

Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of bitcoin, solved the problem of achieving digital truth through the use of blockchain technology that uses consensus and hashing algorithms to cement truth into an immutable history. This isn't just for bitcoin, but has been expanded to include smart contracts and DApp's that can become the foundation for a new legal system. Vitalik Buterin's Ethereum project was the first fully Turing complete blockchain capable of recording political agreements.

But first, we need to turn the current system inside out. Individuals need to become private again and government must become transparent (or better yet non-existent). Centralization of political power is the greatest threat to humanity and the reason terrorism gets worse. To reverse this trend, we need to first stop feeding the parasites.

The equity drain in national fiat everywhere will become a serious issue in the next decade and hopefully will leak into sufficiently decentralized crypto. This will distribute wealth away from the wealthiest back towards the masses as authority is stripped from the ability to use stealth taxation known as QE which has stolen tens of trillions of USD from the world's earthlings.

Only when this has been done, and natural law is king at the local level can some modicum of justice prevail.
