Rep. Brad Sherman calls for Crypto Ban; the opening salvo of the most epic financial war begins

in #informationwar5 years ago (edited)

The mood has definitely changed in the last couple of weeks with the bullish uptrend, but remember that markets never make a straight line up. I believe a pullback is coming before long, but I remain long term bullish. The recent announcement by Rep Brad Sherman illustrates that government does in fact see crypto as a threat to the status quo. But will it work? Can they ban it?

I think that it may be realistically too late to do that at this point, even to get the political will behind it. Many big names (billionaires like Tim Draper, the Winklevii, Roger Ver, Mike Novogratz) who have tremendous influence with lobbyists will come forward with their legal teams to tie it up in the courts for a long enough time for an equity drain to form in national fiat all over the world.

Sherman's response is based upon panic understanding the reality that cryptocurrency represents which is true freedom from the banking tyranny that has been imposed upon us world wide. Will the individual greed of people like Jamie Dimon cause the internal banking cartel to break ranks with other bankers because the opportunity is too great for these psychopaths to pass up?

So what happens next? I suspect that there will be massive political fallout over this and I believe that we will see attempts at regulation that will send shockwaves through the crypto industry. This seems to be a theme of the Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn this coming year (as seen at the 8 o'clock position in the middle wheel below).

The symbolism speaks of financial corruption (Saturn and Pluto in Cap), and threats to freedom (Jupiter in fall) and in relation to the natal Mercury Pluto opposition intensifies such issues as intelligence and spying, surveillance and of course the impact of fake news. It's no secret that cryptocurrency exchanges are under great scrutiny and many face legal action that will come to a head next year in the courts.

China already attempted to ban it and it hasn't gone so well and China seems to be better at dictatorship than the USA. But if they do get a ban, it is guaranteed that the brain drain will cause all the innovation to leave which will cause the USA to fall behind and become less relevant as a world power. However, it's not just the USA. Bitcoin and other crypto's are like cryptonite to all national fiat.

I also find it interesting to see who's on the wrong side of history here. Mark Zuckerberg was accused by the Winklevoss twins of stealing their idea for Facebook years ago, and then the Winklevii found bitcoin a short time later. Now Zuckerberg is looking like a dinosaur holding onto centralized IT that invades everyone's privacy and aiding a crumbling political administration by using censorship and trying to create a fake cryptocurrency scamcoin for FB. Bitcoin is all about repudiation of this sort of corruption and the main reason it exists. Do you see the incredible karma here?

Julian Assange and Chelsea Manning are likely to be very prevalent in the news next year. The corruption of government is coming to a head and will be on world wide open display. Authority has long understood that the control over money is the true source of their power. It is not the vote. I believe there will be a significant turning point in this debate over fake news and that increasing loss of credibility by establishment will be the result. These people will probably not be able to show their faces in public for a very long time after this. Like the ex Nazi's they will be political pariah and will look incredibly bad.

Ultimately, you can't ban an idea and that's what crypto is. It's a mathematical agreement in value that transcends borders. As such, crypto has the power to break up tribal and national monopolies by creating equity drains against national fiat everywhere because it is borderless and censorship resistant. We as a community should encourage accusation to manifest against all authority who tries to assert control. The finger of blame will strengthen decentralization by rendering autocratic control too risky to hold.

Excellent points made here and I love your weaving your following of the planets into this. We see the cycles over time, something the ancients knew about, yet most ignore today.

As for the main point, I agree as you know. The horse is already out of the barn. We know how this dance turns out. The results are already in. We only have to watch the process unfold. You bring up a valid point about the crypto billionaires who have a lot of power. We also cannot discount the greed factor of those on Wall Street who want into this game. There are many who are looking to get to the top and over take the likes of Dimon.

They are like crabs in a bucket, pulling the others down to get ahead. Crypto will be their vehicle to do this.

Astrology isn't a comfortable fit for me. It wasn't as much of an issue talking about this in the past before my software put me on the map, but since about 2005 I've grown increasingly nervous having my name attached to this subject. The vast majority of people misunderstand the way I speak and what I am really saying. I don't believe that the planets are actually "doing" anything. It's just that I happen to believe that life is not random. I stated this on an article back in 1999 theory of geocosmic coincidence. In fact, it's not even close to random and much more predictable than modern science would think under Descartian reductionism. Life seems to be very much a mathematical algorithm and therefore predictable. The complications of life make this fact difficult to see.

"Astrologer speak" is like saying that the hour hand hitting the 5 on the clock face caused rush hour. The efficient cause is actually something else, material causes something else yet. Then in some forums like skyscript.co.uk they will argue about such things as "combustion" (planet being burned because it's too close to the Sun) and their arguments were completely ridiculous. This is why I liked Robert Schmidt's work because he was practically the only one in the field who was doing serious work trying to get to the bottom of how astrology got started and discovering the philosophical principles underlying it. Nearly everybody else in the astrology community was just "making shit up" with little regard to the overall effect on the field. Astrologers tend to do this in an attempt to make a name for themselves because if a "new technique" takes off (like Astrocartography) they are known for it.

I was at the point back around 1993 thinking I was going to leave this field behind (for music) after nearly 20 years of study, but Project Hindsight made this field interesting to me again. Now Schmidt is gone and I have my doubts that the field will progress in a meaningful way. Astrology will go on and it will make up fancy new techniques, but given who is connected to the subject most prominently, it makes me not want to waste as much of my time. The zodiacal releasing method of Valens is one of the few that gives me pause, because it works so well, that there might be something we modern thinkers are missing in understanding, similarly for profections, but the original insight whatever that was is buried in millennia of misunderstandings.

Even though we are all very impatient with crypto and feel it is moving slowly, it is actually moving at lightspeed in comparison to government and central banking. We can dodge ten times faster than anything they can throw at us.

As you say, crypto can't be banned, not only because greedy billionaires are already committed, but because decentralization has no head to cut off.

Make it illegal for banks to process the transactions and people will buy mining equipment or pay with cash underground. The next phase is paying people directly with crypto when they add value to the platform. That's where projects like Steem kick in.

It will be interesting to see just how badly they start to flip their shit when they realize there isn't much they can do. A lot of them are having their "Bitcoin to zero" dreams dashed at this very moment.

I feel like I've been waiting for this moment for the past 50 years. A friend of mine who I used to talk to about all the political trends from Reagan, through 911 and Arab spring passed just before bitcoin peaked in Dec 2017. Unfortunately the last time I spoke to him was just before he bought a new house in summer 2016 and I never got the chance to explain bitcoin (I got in when bitcoin was at about 1K in Feb 2017). He would enjoy seeing this.
