In my walks around the farm I regularly find a wide variety of insects going about their business. Yesterday was in the low 90s with a nice bright sun and it made for fairly easy viewing. The ladybug was having a bit of difficulty in trying to maneuver around the spines of the thistle flower. As the breeze blew the thistle head about the ladybug eventually lost it's desire to fight to spines and flew off for something easier.

The grasshopper ran for the sugar syrup that I spilled when filling the bee feeders. It is a young one as can be seen by the quite immature wings that it's sporting. Being that it is a juvenile I am not certain which type of grasshopper it is exactly. It looks like it will be changing color as it ages, plus I don't normally see bright green grasshoppers around the farm.

The Bumble Flower Beetle is always a fun one to find. It is usually buried, head down ass up, just visible in the middle of a thistle flower. I have to squeeze the bottom of the flower to "eject" the beetle so I can see it better. It is one of the dual aspect insects. On one hand it is a good beetle to have around since it is actively destroying the thistle flowers which helps reduce their spread, on the other hand it is the biggest problem I have with my sunflowers as the beetle likes to eat into the flower heads.
