Can You Obey Your Own Laws?

in #inspiration6 years ago (edited)
Laws are made by humans and are to be obeyed by humans as well. The absence of laws brings out misbehavior/misconduct of people. Where there is no law, no one can be termed an offender. What then is this law of a thing?

The law is a system of rules which a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and which it may enforce by the imposition of penalties.

There are several type of laws, by laws, state laws, personal laws etc and all of them are geared towards keeping sanity and peace. The purpose of the law is not necessarily to punish the offenders but in order to ensure that people are constrained to behave properly, the penalties has to be included.

We as individuals tend to have our own personal laws or better put, limit to which we relate with people or want people to relate with us to a certain limit.
Having a personal law or setting boundaries to which you want people to adhere to when relating with you is not a bad idea. It helps to keep peace and staying away from insults by people but then. The laws we create for others to obey, can we ourselves keep to it if another should present those laws as theirs to us?

We humans at times go too far in seeking our satisfaction not considering others and what their feelings is. We create too many laws at times with our selfish interest at heart rather than a peaceful coexistence with others. Our interest is always considered first before the interest of others.

You give people laws that yourself can't ever keep to it if it was given to you. You don't allow people to call you at a certain time of the day even if your urgent attention will save the situation but when you are in emergency, you easily call people to help you, are you not unfair with your personal laws?

You as a father, you don't want men whether old or young to come around your daughter but away from your family, you are having a sexual relationship with a girl who might not be up to the age of your last daughter.

There are more things to talk about which people set as laws but can't keep to it. Remember the golden rule that says

Do to others as you want others to do to you

Don't try to make your laws too strict for people to obey. People are afraid to come to you because they don't know your next line of action if your law is broken by them. Those your laws can be made flexible a bit to accept little human mistakes. Create room for stretching those your personal laws to accommodate more people else with time you might end up not having people who are willing to associate with you.

You said it, friend! People make rules for others they never abide by themselves. Parents are notorious for "do as I say, not as I do." No, the kids are going to learn by watching, not by listening. LOL

We all need to learn that though, not just in parenting. With friends also, or even strangers, it's easy to hold expectations of others that we could never meet ourselves until we stop and really think about it.

No, the kids are going to learn by watching, not by listening

Very very true and that is reason today we tend have spoilt children because their parents give laws that they fail to obey. Thanks for reading.
