I am AD Ryan, and I live in Hermosillo, Sonora, a midsize city in the north of Mexico, just about three hours south of the Arizona border. This city is well known for one particular reason: it is one of the hottest cities in Mexico, and even of the world.
If you have been checking the weather reports, or you know… walking in the street, then you are aware that an awful heatwave is striking a large portion of the globe. Well, Hermosillo is almost always at the tip of the spear: just yesterday, official temperature records registered 47°C/116°F, while some thermometers around the city showed numbers up to 52°C/125°F. Sometimes, we have been feeling a thermal sensation around 56°C/132°F.
If numbers won’t help you to understand how hot it is here, let me offer you a bit of an imagination exercise: imagine that you are very tiny, and you enter a giant microwave. Of course, the microwave is turned on… well, that was 7 PM yesterday. And this kind of temperatures are not rare for a city that is planted in the very middle of the Sonoran Desert, where rain is very sparse (believe or not, drops of water fell down yesterday for five long minutes, and then heat resumed its reign).Si los números no te sirven para entender lo caliente que es aquí, déjame ofrecerte un ejercicio de imaginación: imagina que eres muy pequeñito o pequeñita, y entras a un horno de microondas gigante.

After this description, you may think: “well, that’s a terrible place to live”. Actually, besides weather, Hermosillo has been listed several times as one of the top cities in Mexico for its quality of life, due to its strategic geography close to the United States that have boosted industrial and technological investment, which have made my city a perfect point for business (we even have beautiful beaches at one hour distance, so business/pleasure retreats are very common). Also, Sonora have a strong economy based on mining, agriculture, livestock and fishing; and please don´t even get me started with our food, that is delicious… you know what? I will leave that for another post. I’ll just say that our hot dogs are among the best in the world.
This is actually my first post here in SteemIt. I know that is a little bit strange to introduce myself talking about my hometown… but I actually think that your background sometimes says more about yourself that what you want; and I am proud of my background, because I have lived in this city almost all my life. The people of Hermosillo is warm (no pun intended), kind and straightforward; and we will tell you if we like something with a big smile and a loud laughter, or let you know if we don´t agree with a notorious grim and a powerful yell from our desert made lungs. We usually don´t like to beat a lot around the bushes (we don´t have a lot), and we prefer to say what we want to say with the fewer words possible, in order to get out of the sunlight ASAP.Este es, de hecho, mi primer post en SteemIt.

I will be talking about myself on the next post. But for now, I’ll leave you with an advice: if you ever come to Hermosillo, just crank up the A.C. or grab a cold beer. Heat is easier to get rid of than cold… or so I think.

Hello a-d-ryan! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!

Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity.

CONSEJOS PARA NUEVOS USUARIOS

¡Hola @acostaeladio!

I think your city's temperature is higher than in Singapore where I live. Singapore is hot in the early part of the year and heavy rains in the later part. Anyways, welcome to Steemit, a-d-ryan! Hope you have a wonderful time here! Upvoted and Followed!

Thanks @afiqsejuk! I suspect that your kind of temperature is hot with humidity, and also you have beautiful landscapes and rich vegetation; our heat is more or less like a dry and hot plate, and we have to drive to the sea if we want to feel a little humidity and enjoy the lovely landscapes of our beaches. This weather extends trough the middle months of the year, while in the first and last months, it can get really cold (we use to say that we don't have springs or autumns, just extreme summers and winters). Anyway, thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to Steem, @a-d-ryan!
