Hello again Steemit! Official Introduction Post

Hello Steemit!

My name is Daniel Dye, (@danieldyemusic) and I’m a songwriter who grew up on an Ohio farm. Back in the eighties I traveled around the midwestern United States as the youngest member of the “Dye Family Singers” so I’ve been singing for as long as I remember.

When I was in college my mom gave me an old guitar she had picked up for a few dollars at a garage sale, and I learned my first three chords while riding on the back of my parents’ van on a six-hour road trip, and then songs started coming, little by little.

At that point life consisted of working construction, saving money for traveling, and playing music. While hanging out in Berlin, Germany, I fell in love with a Puerto-Rican/German woman, (a great mix.) We got married, moved to China where we taught English, then to Europe while I studied at a university in Poland. We then moved back to the USA, where I’ve been playing music with the talented and classically-trained Miller Road Band, who also happen to be my nephews and nieces.

In 2011 I co-founded the Madden Road Music Fest with my Sister Sarah, who I also sing with, and this festival now takes place on my family farm every August. In 2016 a fellow known here as @cryptoctopus came to the festival and told me about this mysterious thing called Steemit. He suggested that it would be a good platform for my music, and unfortunately, at the time I ignored his suggestion, but I finally joined in December 2017, and I’m glad I did.

I’ve been writing, recording, and performing music for years, but these days it’s really hard to make a decent living in music alone, so Steemit has come along at the right time, and I’m really happy to be here, and have already felt very welcome!
