The Benin Art Work is from The kingdom of Benin also known ad Edo Empire (1440-1897).
The Benin Kingdom is Located at South-South region of Nigeria.

The Materials Mostly used in Benin Art work mainly Are Brass, Ivory and Coral which said to be Endowed with sacred power.

For Some Reasons the Oba Erediauwa, King of Benin started The end of the year Party called The Igue. The Masquerade are free to Move that day, The Igue Fastival entertains Sequence of Rituals said to Renew the Oba's (king) supernatural powers and cleanse the Kingdom unruly spirit.9e9400ec0b030d11f18f18f0a07f705a.jpgimages-7.jpg

The Benin Ancient shrine holds some of this Art Work Which is used as an object to communicate with the gods.![images-6.jpg()

Few Things We Can not Do..

  1. Pointing Finger, Pointing Finger at the Object or the Oba of Benin (king) is Prohibited. The King himself do not point Finger to anyone.. Pointing of Finger is seen as a Spiritual Act and it has a sacred meaning.. Anyone caught doing such will be imprisoned.

  2. Whistling. Whistling seen Harmless and not really matter to most people but in the shrine is considered Rude and deadly Act.unnamed-3.png

3.Black Apparel. Black is A colour Specify Mourning in Many Culture, The Benin Shrine is a Taboo (sin) to be Seen with Black, no Matter the Circumstance.. Anyone wearing black will not be allowed to enter the Benin Shrine..
