How can I get STEEMED? This is my first post.

Help me please? Which should I post about first; musical, philosophical/spiritual/political, entrepreneurial/money making/career, or some other deep dark aspects of my history?

I have heard of Steemit for almost a year but didn't know what it was all about. About a month ago I started watching videos about cryto currency among other things on the Anarchcast Youtube channel.

There is so much to go through. Maybe I can touch on them all with the highlights, or go in depth and bore you? Nope, I don't want to bore you so I'll try to keep it as brief as possible. By the way, I've lived in Panama City Beach for about 21 years now, so I'm sure I'll be talking about the beach life in future blogs.

But first, if you are into ancestor worship to any degree, I justed wanted to begin by giving tribute to my Dad. I take mostly after my Dad (may he rest in peace) according to everyone who knew both him and myself. I got so much from him in the way of music, business/sales, spiritual thought, political philospy and how to treat my fellow earthling.

Early on Dad was a republican. Later he learned of libertarianism. He did an interview with the Libertarian Party Presidential Candidate of 1980, Ed clark. I read the interview my dad published in one of his small newspapers when I was about 21 years old and became immediately hooked! (Eight years later I supported Ron Paul when he became the Libertarian Party nominee).

My dad was a trumpet player in his teens and early twentys. His influences included Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller and other big band heros, and he even liked some of the new music of the late 60's.

He got me set up with piano lessons when I was only 7 years old for which I am eternally grateful. Later in middle school I followed his footsteps and took up trumpet and other horn instruments in school. He bought me my first guitar and amp when I was about 14 and even helped me pay for some guitar lessons.

Here am I playing some blues harp (harmonica) at a small local festival last summer outside of Panama City FL. My Dad passed before I ever took up the harmonica. Wish he could hear me. Maybe he does?

I worked for Dad at his small town newspaper operation while still in high school. It was there that I learned how to lay out newspapers and create advertisements. We used the "cut and paste" method. And no I'm not talking about computer cut and paste. I'm talking old school cut and paste where you literally cut the elements (columns of news stories, headlines, ad elements etc.), run them through a wax machine, then paste them onto large sheets of gridded layout paper. He always told me I'd be one of his advertising salesmen one day, to which I objected as I was a seriously introverted teenager.

Right out of high school however I joined up with Amway. Dad was my first and probably my only customer. I gave that up and began selling Cutco Cutlery. Dad was my first customer there too! Thanks for the encouragement Dad!

About a month or so before my Dad passed from a massive sudden heart attack in 1998, we had a phone conversation which included a discussion on how bad the world was increasingly becoming. We both knew that our freedoms were being encroached on in what seemed to be an exponential manner. We also both commented back then on how death might be preferable to seeing what sort of horrors we may see in the world in the coming months and years. At that time I was a bonafide evangelical Christian. Dad was into Eckankar which I deemed to be unholy and evil, though I didn't judge him for it. Nor did he judge me for being a Christian. So he passed away about a month after that call and I would not give that last call up for anything in the world.

Ok so now that I have rambled on so much about how my Dad influenced and guided me in my life's path, I'll just cut to the chase and give a quick run down of some of the topics I would like to discuss here with this community.

And now how's this for a signature?

Yours truly,

Hello realitynow! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
