You're arriving at a really good time, as activity (and steem price) bottomed out in the past few months and is about to take off. My best tip: give yourself the challenge of posting, upvoting and commenting on something at least a few times a week for one month. That'll give you a great start, some followers, some steem power and a feel for the community. Good luck!
