Israel once again carried out attacks against the Gaza Strip last weekend, using both attack helicopters and launching airstrikes against the besieged Palestinian enclave. Jake Morphonios of Blackstone Intelligence reported on the strikes via Twitter on Sunday:

Yesterday Israel used attack helicopters to strike Gaza over speculative claims of "suspicious balloons". Hamas responded to the unprovoked attack with a single rocket - which was shot down by Israel's Iron Dome. Israel then conducted Air Force strikes. - @morphonios

As reported by Haaretz:

The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel Sunday overnight after rocket sirens sounded near the southern city of Ashkelon. The Israeli military said it struck several Hamas targets in northern Gaza in response.

Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli military helicopter attacked two Hamas positions in Gaza in response to a suspicious cluster of balloons launched from the Strip earlier in the day, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said. More attacks on the Strip were reported later in the day.

The Israeli Occupation Forces blind policy is to hold Hamas responsible for all attacks emanating from the Strip, whether or not the attacks are actually carried out by Hamas, as an IDF spokesman once again reiterated in a Tweet regarding these latest strikes:

"In response to the rocket fired at Israel from Gaza, IDF fighter jets and a helicopter targeted a number of terror targets within Hamas's military camp in northern Gaza. We hold the Hamas terror organization accountable for all acts of terror emanating from the Gaza Strip", IDF tweeted.

The initial helicopter attacks in response to the "suspicious balloons" targeted two Hamas military outposts, according to the IDF. "A Hamas security source said one strike occurred east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip and hit an observation point for Hamas's armed wing, while the second was east of Gaza City," AFP reported, adding that no injuries had been reported. Regarding the following Israeli airstrikes, "A Hamas security official in Gaza said that Israeli aircraft carried out three raids, targeting a position of the armed wing of the movement near Beit Lahia in the north of the Palestinian enclave without causing any casualties."

According to the Jerusalem Post, "The IDF also struck targets near Jabalya and the Zeitun neighborhood of Gaza City, Palestinian media reported." Additionally,

According to media reports, Israel also delayed the transfer of $15 million in Qatari funds to Hamas. It would have been the third such payment since November when Israel began to skirt the Palestinian Authority by facilitating cash transfers of $15 million.

All this over some balloons - seems like a little overkill of a response if you ask me!

Of course we should keep in mind that any such balloons or incendiary kites being launched from Gaza are only being flown into the southern Israeli frontier following months of IDF snipers targeting unarmed protesters with live-fire during the weekly "March of Return" demonstrations, including children, journalists, and medics; killing over 225 Palestinian protesters including over 40 children, and injuring well over 23,000 to-date. The first incendiary objects which ignited fires in southern Israeli fields and farmland months ago were only launched from Gaza after Israeli forces repeatedly opened fire on crowds of Palestinian protesters near the so-called border fence, killing and wounding many.

This Zionist perpetrated violence and excessive use of force by the Israeli forces continued at today's 42nd consecutive weekly Gaza border protest (1/11/19), where an estimated 12,000 Palestinians showed up to protest the inhumane 12-year Israeli siege of the Strip and the illegal occupation of Palestine which refuses the "right of return" to Palestinian refugees forced from their lands and homes in both 1948 and 1967.

From the Middle East Eye (MEE):

Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian woman on Friday and injured at least 25 others, including a journalist and a paramedic, during the Great March of Return protests in eastern of Gaza Strip near the border fence with Israel.

Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told AFP the woman, who was not identified, was shot in the head east of Gaza City. Israeli forces used live fire and rubber coated steel bullets as they fired on protesters near the fence.

Additionally, MEE reported that: "In the West Bank, one Palestinian was killed by Israeli fire near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron city, according to the al-Quds website."

This Friday the Palestinians were demonstrating near the Gaza border fence under the slogan of, "Our steadfastness will break the siege." Indeed, the steadfastness of any resistance is key to its people's freedom from oppression and occupation; but sadly, resistance to tyranny whether peaceful or not, rarely comes without a high cost to those who are resisting. The world is quickly waking up to the Zionist lies and the true plight of the oppressed Palestinians. Let us hope that their steadfastness will indeed break the siege. #FreePalestine

At least 50% of the Steem proceeds of this post will be donated to help poor, struggling Palestinian families in Gaza

As a further contribution to the Palestinian cause for freedom, equality and justice, I will be donating at least half of the Steem generated from this post (and any future posts on Israel/Palestine this month) to @nourtawfiq to help in her campaign for the month of January to raise money for poor families in Gaza who are struggling to feed their children. The Israeli land, air and naval siege (military blockade) of the Gaza Strip is directly responsible for creating the barely livable conditions which exist for its 2 million inhabitants, and what better way to fight back against this oppression than by using cryptocurrency on the Steem blockchain in order to bypass the blockade and help struggling families?

If you agree, please consider Upvoting, Resteeming, and sharing this post; and also feel free to donate directly to Nour @nourtawfiq on Steemit or on Fundition (here is proof your donations will be going to Palestinians in need). Together we can create heaven on earth and true lasting world peace...

Thanks for checking out my post and take care. Peace.

The insidious little sneaky murderous shits are still at it after all these years.
One day soon, when the world turns on them, they'll get what's comin' to them.

Incredible how Israel gets away with murder on a daily basis while the world doesn't give a damn nor criticizes them.

Israel doesn't gets away with murder.... Palestinians willingly walks to death. Truth is painful

I will try my best to help the poor in my country

I believe that if the Palestinians came together and demonstrated in large numbers that they are peaceful and forgive all trespasses ... the world would immediately support them. And if Israel's gov't doesn't accept the olive branch of peace they extend, their true colors would be exposed; which would be their undoing.

If some Israelis want to lead the charge and do it first that would be great. B/c it takes two to hug it out ...
