I want to give you some information from istanbul

The definition of Istanbul 7 hills describes the seven dominant hills in the city walls that are evident in ancient Istanbul. I have already mentioned that the New Capital of Rome: Konstantinopolis, my name, is influential in the fact that Istanbul is a city with seven hills, just like the Roman city in Italy.

Where are the 7 hills of Istanbul? These seven hills, which are clearly visible before being influenced by modern architecture, are located within the city walls of the real Istanbul:

  • Sarayburnu (Topkapı)
  • Çemberlitaş (Nuruosmaniye)
  • Suleymaniye (Beyazıt)
  • Fatih (Fatih Mosque)
  • Yavuz Selim (Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque)
  • Edirnekapı (Mihrimah Sultan Mosque)
  • Kocamustafapaşa (Çapa - Haseki)

Istanbul 7 Hill Names

Let's read all the names and historical structures of these 7 hills, which are called with the names of the districts or the works on it.

Sarayburnu and its vicinity are the 1st place of Istanbul. This hill, which is the place where Megari King Byzas first established the city; It was a very logical choice because it was turned into sea by 3 sides and the land was higher than sea level. Already Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han had preferred this valuable end of the Historical Peninsula for the palace of the empire.

This hill, also known as Sarayburnu or Topkapi, is about 30 meters above sea level. Along with Topkapi Palace; Hagia Sophia Museum, Blue Mosque, Ibrahim Pasha Palace, Million Stone and German Fountain are also on this first hill.

The second highest point of Istanbul is Çemberlitaş area. It is about 40 meters higher than sea level. The most obvious works; Çemberlitaş, Nuruosmaniye Mosque and Çorlulu Ali Paşa Madrasah. Some experts also count Egyptian Bazaar in this class.

Istanbul's 3rd peak is Süleymaniye hill. Perhaps the most prominent hill, this area attracts much attention, especially when traveling by ferry. This hill, which is 50 meters above sea level, looks even more magnificent with the Süleymaniye Complex. Beyazit Mosque and Istanbul University are also located here.

We see the sign of Sultan Mehmet II again on the 4th floor of Istanbul's fortification: Fatih Complex! I think this is the most important hill in history. So, instead of being built in Fatih Mosque, Rome's Havariyyun Church (church dedicated to 12 apostles of the Prophet Jesus) took place here.

Come to 5th place of Istanbul: Yavuz Sultan Selim Tepesi. The Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque is located on the hill in the Çarşamba neighborhood and overlooking the Golden Horn from a steep hillside (you should definitely see the magnificent view from the garden of the glass). On this hill, which is 50 m high from Golden Horn, there are Kariye Mosque and Fener Greek Patriarchate.

It is mentioned with the name of Sultan Mihrimah Sultan, daughter of Süleyman the Magnificent. At the time Tekfur Palace was also taking place here. At this point, which is 70 m higher than the zero point, there were the most dominant observation places of the black walls.

The 7th and final hill of Istanbul is Kocamustafapaşa district. There is a Haseki Complex dating from the Ottoman Empire in this area which rises 60 m from the water level. During the Roman period, the Arkadius Forum and the column were located.
