First artist from a developing country that transcended in music
Today there are many Latino artists and artists coming from what until recently was defined as third world, being now called developing countries. We have artists like Shackira, Ricky Martin, Yenifer Lopez, Marck Anthony, who have earned their place in the increasingly tight musical history. Not to mention the Urban genre, or the current reggue like Manu Chao, or UB40 or Shaggy.
But it is only a few years ago that the impulse and the opening of these artists to the musical world beyond their borders has been facilitated, but there are those who went down in history for their art and the way to impact society.
The first artist from a developing country to sell more than 20 million records, to my surprise:
Bob Marley (Robert Nesta Marley).
It was with his Legend album that he became known worldwide.
Legend is an album of great hits by Bob Marley and the Wailers released on May 8, 1984 through Island Records. The original compilation, first released on LP, contains fourteen of the Jamaican artist's most recognizable songs (including ten of his eleven top 40 in the UK) included in his single* format. Reaching the figures Robert Nesta Marley achieved through a message of peace, life, no to war (in the midst of war) and independence has been an achievement that should not be missed.
