Godzilla Attacks Kabukicho In Shinjuku At The Hotel Gracery
Anyone who has been to Kabukicho in Shinjuku in the past few years has no doubt seen a strange site, Godzilla peeping over a building. Fitting for Kabukicho, once the seediest part of Shinjuku. Actually it still kind of is, it's just gotten a make over. Better than Roppongi though!
Which leads me to the Hotel Gracery, the building which Godzilla sits on. It's actually a beautiful piece of architecture in the heart of Shinjuku. It's monotones and angular lines really set it apart from the surrounding buildings. The interior of the hotel matches the exterior, although in warmer, modern colors.
The there is Godzilla again. He actually sits in the middle of a viewing area where you can walk around him and take photos with him. He's not a lively Godzilla though so don't expect to get much reaction from him when you say "cheese".
Behind him there is a restaurant so you can dine with him if you are feeling adventurous, hoping of course that he does not have gas. See you're at his backside, he having a really bad diet, you get it right? I'm here all week!
Upon further inspection it seems rooms are reasonably priced from the low $100's. It might be worth it to spend the night down there and enjoy some hostess clubs rather than taking the train home. I will report back when we do just that!
My only complaint, it's almost 2020 fucking 2020. We should have a holographic Godzilla stomping around Shinjuku at night scaring the shit out of everyone. Let's hope Japan steps up it's game by the time the Olympics roll around.

Thank you very much for posting so well for you. Long ago, we used to watch a serial called Gadzila. Kihib was good. After many days it was much fun and good to read. A beautiful country is a beautiful view of Japan..keep it up.keep going
HAHAHA one of the iconic sights in Shinjuku. I actually considered staying at Gracery before, but always end up using an Airbnb instead. But now with the rules becoming stricter, I may just have to use hotels(?) ahaha
Never though about AirBnB'ng downtown... I'd still like to stay at The Gracery just to try it out.
I also wasn't aware you could take pictures with Godzilla. You learn something new about Tokyo everyday right?
