"Barndomens Stigar by Kultivator"(1981)

in #jazz4 years ago (edited)

Kultivator was a Swedish band, founded in 1978. It was made up of Stefan Carlsson (bass), Johan Hedrén (organ, synthesizers), Jonas Linge (guitars, vocals), Ingemo Rylander (vocals, recorders) and Johan Svärd (drums). The musical proposal of the group is unclassifiable and unique, so it is somewhat difficult to describe; However, we could say that they have an eclectic style, derived from several fundamental influences. The first influence is found in the canterbury scene in bands such as Soft Machine (4th and 5th album), Gilgamesh ("Gilgamesh") and National Health ("National Health"). The second influence is found in Rock in Opposition, in bands like Henry Cow ("Legend") and Univers Zero ("1313"). The last influence that composes the style of Kultivator is the music Zeuhl de Magma ("1001 ° Centigrades"). Unfortunately, the band released just one album, titled "Barndomens Stigar" recorded in 1981; nevertheless the work without a doubt, I leave an impressive legacy ready to be enjoyed intensely by the collectors provided with an acute perception of jazz in their conscience and their hearts ... At work we have an excellent sample of experimental jazz holder of a peculiar and challenging melodic sensitivity, with a strong dose of dissonance and a hint of darkness. The mezzosoprano and delicate singing of Ingemo Rylander is clearly influenced by that of Amanda Parsons; while the style of guitarist Linge meets mixing the stylized cadence of Phil Miller and the creative madness of Fred Frith; additionally, the way in which Hedrén organizes the sound effects of its organ, pleasantly remember that recurring vibrato in the archetypal contributions of Stewart and Ratledge in their respective bands ... =)
