After last weekends mayhem at a UFC title fight between Connor McGregor and the reigning and still lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

A brawl ensued, that encapsulated my exact feelings about UFC and much of the mma scene, or rather the people that are currently involved in it. It hurts me that kids and teenagers are watching this. And this is the popular face of Martial Arts, even in the BJJ scene these antics and charades have slipped in. Name calling and boasting and talking.
I am not surprised but if you promote a fight like a street brawl, and make fun of someone’s religion, family, country and wife. And then you get surprised 😮 that stuff like this happens, you are very naive. In all this spectacle we have to remember what martial arts is all about.

I will try to show what it’s about for me, and I hope that we can get back from the showmanship and games and back into respect. Some things are timeless and invaluable. After all if you are acting like a douche and then you want me to have my kids train with you, and you want to be a role model, what kind of signal is that. Martial arts is not UFC. And our kids will one day emulate us.
