HF 20 Recap

Week 39 HF20 is now in the past and up and running. Still a few issues with it, still a lot of confusion with it.

Requirements

Image created and provided by: @amariespeaks
So, if you are new to steemit and meet the criteria below I will try to help at least one individual that responds:

• a steemit newbie, that has a rank of not more than 45
• has a good and quality blog
• has less than 90 days on steemit
• I will only resteem One post, and that is not a guarantee

If you would like your blog to be resteemed, read, commented on, and voted on, leave a link to one of your blog post in the comments below and I will try to help. If you have a question I will try to answer it, or direct you to someone or a post that may be of help. Steemit can be overwhelming at times, but there are people that do try to take the time and help others.

What is needed

Prior to the switch over HF20 we had something called "bandwidth", that is what governed how much a person could do on steemit. There were only a few times that "bandwidth" limitation took effect on the steem blockchain. During high usage times people with very little "bandwidth" were severely restricted in being able to use steemit. In other words the low bandwidth people were throttled so that the larger accounts that had more stake in the system, could continue uninterrupted. The more SP the more bandwidth you had. SP was your "stake". If you wanted to use steemit as a social network and not a daily job, then you powered your SP up and had no bandwidth issue at a certain level. If it was a supplemental income tool for you, then yes you had times where you could not use steemit.

With HF20, it has been decided that "bandwidth" will be replaced with "RC's", (resource Credits). The following quote:

Running a rewards-based decentralized social network required new advances in blockchain technology. Steem is a next-generation blockchain, uniquely designed to run real-time applications with near instant, fee-free transactions.

Is from https://steem.io/ Faster than Bitcoin and Ethereum, with no fees paragraph. That is evidently no longer part of they system.

HF20 New Numbers

Here is a reality check post for the new user:Steemit: The Anti-Social Network. In this post Dave Mccoy shows how futile and difficult it is for a new user to go anywhere on the steemit blockchain, or to participate in the, per Steem.io front page, "Steemit—a social network that pays its community

Last week info, but still very important

It will take a little effort on you, the new user, to see what is going on. It has never been more important than now to know about these two tools:

  • https://steemd.com/@bashadow (replace my name with your username) created by @roadscape
  • https://steemworld.org/@bashadow (replace my name with your username) created by @steemchiller
On the steemd page look at your "Resource Credits" box. It will show you how many actions you can take. Please remember that it is an estimate and the numbers are not cumulative:(this is from a 50SP account)
    • Enough credits for approximately:
    • 100 votes
    • 100 transfers/power ups
You can either make 71 comments, or 100 votes or 100 transfers, you can not make all of them. Blog/post fall in the comment category. You can make combinations of them example 20 votes + 50 comments + 20 power ups.

There are other tools out there to help, but these are the two I am most familiar with and can help on if you have questions about them. So as you see when you get to 50 SP you can do quite a bit, so initially grow your account, Post an introduction, vote on other people's content, then comment on those post you voted on, then do it all again. It will take a little bit, but your account will grow.

HF20 Issue

There are people and groups out there that are trying to help new users out with delegations, to make it possible for you to continue to participate in what Steem.io initially created a Fee Free, Earn Steem Token System

If you need help, leave a comment, if you can or are willing or know of a group providing assistance to new members with little to no SP, leave a comment. Lets get people connected and lets not let the original dream of Steem.io / Steem Inc die a death drowning in bank fees.

Witness Voting

@fulltimegeek, @steemcommunity, and @markangeltrueman are witness that are a good choice for keeping steemit a community and social oriented system.

Conclusion

If you would like to have a post resteemed and you meet the above requirements let me know in the comments, also if there is anything you need help on or a question you feel uncomfortable asking someone else, just drop it in the comments, I will try to answer or find someone who has the answer. Part of newbieresteemday is @newbiegames, so if you are looking for some fun and games take a peek and see what they found for the week.

Oh wow! It was good to see this post, as the overwhelming number of comments helps remind me why I turned a little cynical about helping newbies in general. I only do so for those I see talent and that they are trying.

I am still angry about steemit removing the indicator that shows how many people viewed the post. For instance, with my vote, you have 25 voters, but you cannot work out how many just voted without even opening your post.

A very good tool you should take a look at:

https://steemworld.org/@bashadow

Yes, the removal of the page views was pretty pissy. I still think it was done because people could see how many of the larger accounts making hundreds of dollars were getting zero page views and I think that embarrassed them. when I asked about the removal it was excuse after excuse of that it didn't work, that people could game the count, that it would increase each time a person revisited the same page or hit the reload button. Problem with that is people like you and me really want to know if what we are doing is being viewed, the attitude I got when I brought it up was just excuse after excuse.

I would like to see more new people drop by, but it has been a couple of months it seems that any one has asked about a resteem, comment, or vote. I guess there are bigger new user supporters that people are finding, and I only visit introduceyourself tags infrequently now because of all the big dolphins, orca's, whales, and scammers playing in there.

Some of the answers you were given was BS

I was told that views does not increase through repeat visits, so I tested it and they were right.

One thing I often forget to keep in mind, even though it is something I believe: Nothing is perfect, so be glad for what is given.

PS: Some of the big sharks want us to feel grateful because Steemit is for free and we can earn some money. What they do not wish to point out is that by us being here, collecting cents per day, they are using us to make millions. I don't resent that they do, I just do not like the dishonesty.

Cool idea @bashadow. Let me know who wins and I will give them a resteem and upvote too
