Former Consul of Ecuadorian Embassy in London Defends Assange, Files Complaint with The Guardian on Fake News Story

in #justice4assange5 years ago (edited)

Fidel Narváez, the former consul and first secretary at for Ecuador's Embassy in London has challenged the fake news story The Guardian put out last week. He insists the claims of Paul Manafort meeting Julian Assange at the embassy are false. Julian Assange never met with Paul Manafort at the embassy in 2013, 2015, or 2016 as The Guardian claims.

Narvaez corresponded with The Guardian, and made a formal complaint which accused the newspaper of fabricating a previous story about trying to smuggle Assange into Russia, according to The Canary. Narvaez would know if Manafort visited, since he was the consul and later first secretary at the Ecuadorian Embassy form 2010 to 2018. He said:

"It is impossible for any visitor to enter the embassy without going through very strict protocols and leaving a clear record: obtaining written approval from the ambassador, registering with security personnel, and leaving a copy of ID. The embassy is the most surveilled on Earth; not only are there cameras positioned on neighbouring buildings recording every visitor, but inside the building every movement is recorded with CCTV cameras, 24/7. In fact, security personnel have always spied on Julian and his visitors. It is simply not possible that Manafort visited the embassy."

In the correspondence, The Guardian responded:

"This story relied on a number of sources. We put these allegations to both Paul Manafort and Julian Assange’s representatives prior to publication. Neither responded to deny the visits taking place. We have since updated the story to reflect their denials."

But apparently hack job Luke Harding only sent an email to WikiLeaks 1:30h before the story was going to publication. And WikiLeaks did respond by issuing a Tweet to the world so that their denial of the fabricated claims was on record for everyone to see.

Narvaez also disputes other stories written by the known plagiarist and fake news author Luke Harding and Dan Collyns. A previous story published by The Guardian in September claimed there was a plan to smuggle Assange via a diplomatic car to Russia. It was authored by Stephanie Kirchgaessner, Dan Collyns and Luke Harding. They also said there was an alternative plan to smuggle Assange to Ecuador.

Yet, Narvaez denied those claims about him at the time, where they The Guardian authors alleged Narvaez was a point of contact with Russia. These defamatory accusations caused damage to his reputation and career and demanded a public apology from The Guardian:

Ecuador was trying to get Assange diplomatic status with agreement from the U.K. Getting him appointed to a position in Russia isn't a smuggling plot though, as Narvaez said to The Guardian:

"Ecuador, in common with other sovereign states, is free to appoint whom they choose as a diplomat to any posting. Ecuador’s wish for Julian Assange to be able to leave the Embassy legitimately, with the agreement of the UK government and without risk to himself is a very long way from a “plot to smuggle” him out in collusion with a third country."

"Ecuador has never even considered the possibility of moving Assange out of the embassy without the consent of the UK. That is why the Guardian’s article is completely false."

There was no smuggling plot, as the false claims from The Guardian alleged. Narvaez lays it on The Guardian for allowing these hack jobs to damage the paper's credibility:

"Luke Harding and Dan Collyns, the authors of the Manafort fake story, are the same ones who wrote the Russia smuggling plot fake story, and their ‘sources’ are most probably the same. I find it incredible that the Guardian allows these people to repeatedly damage the paper’s credibility and reputation."

Harding and Collyns like to make things up to sell papers and get attention. That's what they did again with Assange last week. And the third 'hidden' author is also known to do this, Fernando Villavicencio, as I mentioned a few days ago.

All three of the authors of the recent Assange-Manafort fake news story have a history of making things up. Then their false stories get spread to other media outlets and hyped-up to influence the public and political decisions. It's a psy-op. They are part of a hostile effort against Assange, probably to increase political pressure through social engineering of media manipulation to eventually get Assange extradited.
