Brighton Piers

I took this photograph one fine Sunday morning when I went for a short paddle in my kayak. The Palace Pier is in the foreground and the West Pier, which burned down some years ago, can be seen in the background.

I pass both of the piers if I paddle east from the beach at the bottom of our street towards Brighton Marina a distance of about 3 miles. If I paddle to the west I end up at Shoreham Harbour, also about 3 miles. This is the training routes I take in preparation for my annual kayaking holiday in Scotland. I decide on which way to go based on the wind direction; always into the wind on the way out.
