Dad Tip of the Day: Sharing

in #kids5 years ago

Dad Tip of the Day: Teach your kids to share at an early age and it will foster a spirit of generosity.

Young kids are not natural sharers – they are often selfish and throw a fit if someone takes their toy or they do not get their way. Teaching kids how to share is an important step for parents to do in their developmental process.

In many things, kids will use their parents as a model for how to act, however, when it comes to sharing more words and explaining will be necessary rather than just modeling how to share. There are many fine points of sharing – such as the other’s point of view, fairness, and other’s emotions. In essence, sharing well is a learned trait, and is helped with parent’s proper instruction and encouragement.

I found a good article online that goes into detail about what proper sharing should look like as the kids grow from toddlers, to preschoolers to school-age kids if you wanted to take a look at good reference material: https://raisingchildren.net.au/toddlers/behaviour/friends-siblings/sharing

My kids are still learning how to share. Some days it feels like we have made a lot of progress, while some feel like we are still at square one. I believe the effort to teach kids how to share is worth it, as it will help our kids be more generous and think of others more in the future.

Here is a picture I snapped of the kids sharing well:

Of course, they shared well for a few minutes and then both lost their minds 🤪 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for stopping by today!

Kids are innocent. Properly they don't have much idea about right and wrong. Toys are their main asset and often they don't want to share it but gradually they understand and share it. You are right that parents are the best teacher for kids and they learn their basic lesson from parents. You are lucky as your kids are better than others. Jacob and Kendra both are very quiet and beautiful. I always pray to God for their bright future.

My friend @brian.rrr is how it should be, to teach our children to share with other people, this will make them people of values in the future, to teach them that it is always important to share and help other people
