Mountains - Beauty of Austria

in #landscapephotography5 years ago (edited)

Last week i was on holiday at the "Nationalpark Hohe Tauern" in Salzburg and Tirol / Austria. It was a really nice hiking trip with several highlights. Of course it was not easy to carry all the equipment with me. Because i wanted to be prepared for several sitautions i had to carry my 2 DSLR Cameras along with an wide angle lens, my long 150-600mm Zoom lens and also a Macro, as well as the filters for longtime exposure shots and a tripod. If you don't want to starve or "die from thirst" you also need to carry food and water with you. So my backpack was pretty heavy and i felt an aching back and body nearly every day from the weight and the hiking effort.

Because i didn't mount my wide Angle lens all the time on my camera but exchanged it with my Macro Lens i also used my smartphone to take some pictures of landscapes or for panorama pictures. The Panorama Option on my Smartphone works well and i am always amazed of the quality this small lens delivers. Not compareable to the DSLR but it's getting closer and closer. If you don't want to carry your big camera with you it's still a good compromise to use your smartphone. Because it is very hot now here in Austria it is difficult to find animals to take pictures of, because most of them hide from the heat in the forrests or on other cold spots. In the mountains however it is not so hot and you have a better chance to meet some animals.

At the Hohe Tauern Nationalpark you can also find wild living marmots. If you are patient enough you will be able to take some great close up shots when they gain trust to you, that you don't do them any harm. Of course bribery with a carrot or an apple always helps to gain their trust faster. We also wanted to take some pictures of Capricorns but, because of the heat they where way up the mountain on the glacier of the Großglockner.
