The Chomondeley family have lived at the site since the 12th century and the 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley had the castle built in the early 19th century. The castle was occupied by Lavinia Dowager Marchioness, wife of the 6th Marquess until her death in 2015. The castle is now only occupied part of the year by the family.

The castle sits in 7500 acres of land and the ground contain some of the greatest formal gardens in the UK.

If you wondered where they live the other half of the year. It's called Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

Just in case you wondered what the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley looks like. (he's married to a 38 year old ex-fashion model and he is 58 years old.)

I noticed they had twins in 2009 first, Alexander Hugh George (Earl of Rocksavage)and Oliver Timothy George (Lord Oliver Cholmondeley)and I wondered who got the title. Alexander came out first so it's his.
The daughter who is 2 is called Lady Iris Marina Aline Cholmondeley.

English aristocracy is a very interesting tight knit close bred group of people.
