The mediocrity of most people comes from poor execution.

in #laziness5 years ago

Everyone has dreams when he is young, but as time goes by, dreams gradually fade away and finally only exist in dreams.

Those who realize their ideals are not necessarily smarter or more diligent than you and me, but they often have stronger self-control and execution than you and me.

You said that if you wanted to develop your interest, others would have been writing and painting in their spare time.

When you said you wanted to invest and manage money, others were already studying it.

You said you should strive hard in your work, and others have already made some moves in the workplace.

We always like to talk, but we never want to put it into action. On the contrary, those excellent people have already become their most powerful counterattack against mediocre life.

Most of the time, we all like to delay until the last moment to do things that should have been done long ago.

A lot of plans were made, but by the end of the month it was found that very few things had been done.

As the examination drew near, I felt panic and regret and forced myself to stay up for several nights to review.

Finally began to act, but always can't help myself, from time to time to brush a micro blog, see a shaking voice ...

Everyone will encounter a similar situation, because the execution is not enough, so everything is delayed, everything regrets, and finally nothing is achieved.

However, those who have strong executive power not only think about it, but also do it.

Recently, I am reading a new book " The Biography of Da Vinci" by Isaacson, who once wrote " The Biography of Jobs". There is a mention that Da Vinci will list his daily to-do list in his notebook.

For example, one day in 1496, he wrote a string of words like this:

" Today I want to do is:

Visit Milan and its suburbs

Draw a map of Milan

Find a mathematician to tell me about triangles

Find a hydraulic scientist and tell me how to build a canal.

To study the wings of birds and see the mysteries of their flight. "

The tasks of this day include painting, travel, mathematics, water conservancy and zoology. There are many things and they cover a wide range of areas. This makes us wonder about Leonardo da Vinci's exuberant energy.

What is even more shocking is that Da Vinci actually finished all five things on this day and planned new to-do items on the next day.

Leonardo da Vinci's strength lies not only in the countless difficult tasks he assigned himself, but also in his ability to do things quickly, complete the tasks within the specified time, and not reduce the quality of doing things.

Because he also wrote in his notebook that in order to draw a circle, he would draw 169 circles in succession. In order to investigate the principle of water flow, he will record 730 discoveries of reading water flow. In order to understand the proportion of various parts of the human body, he would really find a friend, measure the length of any part of his body and calculate the proportion.

Leonardo da Vinci is not only a top artist who paints Monalisa, but also a person who is hard to reach. What is more, he can transform all his imagination into execution.

One of the great gaps between us and Leonardo da Vinci is this super-strong execution.

The so-called executive power is the ability to put ideas and plans into action, which depends on whether a person clearly knows how to do it step by step.

There is a long distance between thinking and doing, and a person with strong execution will often go through such a process in his actions:

The mediocrity of most people comes from poor execution.
In such an implementation process, the ultimate goal is to accomplish one thing - do it when you think about it, and learn if you can't.

Think, learn, and finally do it, so that a person can grow up and really change his life.

Unfortunately, most of us either like to immerse ourselves in seemingly positive fantasies, deceive ourselves and others, or are afraid of what we have to do and are reluctant to take action. As a result, execution has gradually become a gap between us and mediocrity.

Some people say that a person's idea is 0 and his execution is 1, and that from 0 to 1 is the most critical step.

Because without this step, you will always be 0, and once you step out of this step, you will only be able to go from 1 to 10, from 10 to 100.

Without executive power, we will remain in the same place and will not be able to escape from mediocre life.

A series of plans you have made have become a little comfort to yourself in your life, but the plans will never catch up with the changes.

You worked overtime and hard at your last minute cramming. It seems that you have filled in the holes you have buried, but it is often full of loopholes, leaving more holes to be filled.

Even if you are determined to act immediately, you are still distracted and unable to focus on what you want to do. The results are very little and anxiety and panic often strike.

Excellent people can act quickly and solve problems. Compared with them, poor execution makes many people become senior procrastinators.

Why do we always fail to realize our ideals? Why do you have good ideas but are reluctant to take action? Why can't we get rid of mediocrity and squeeze into the ranks of the excellent?

The low efficiency of execution is the problem. It often comes from many problems that we often face in our hearts.

Question 1: Too many choices, information overload

In today's society, we are making a lot of decisions every day.

Do you want to go to a movie or go on an outing with friends on weekends?

Do you want to learn painting, take a course or buy a book to learn it yourself?

If you want to start exercising, is it to go for a run or to step on a bicycle?

We are faced with too many multiple choice questions and too many choices, and because we do not have a clear understanding of ourselves and what is most important to us, we are often at a loss when information overload occurs.

Because the brain uses its main energy to identify and select information, the time for action is naturally delayed.

Question 2: Too much noise inside

When you concentrate on one thing, you will feel full and satisfied. However, when you stay at home all day and do not see anyone on the Internet, you will feel very tired. The key reason is that when you do nothing, your mind has too many useless thoughts and your heart is full of negative thoughts of remorse, which will cause great internal friction.

Just like going to work in winter, people who get up half an hour late and have less inner noise tend to be more active. When they find it late, they immediately get out of bed, brush their teeth and wash their faces, and go out as soon as possible.

People with a lot of noise inside will have a lot of negative self - talk -

" It's all because I stayed up late last night and couldn't get up today!"

" Today's meeting will not be able to catch up. The leaders may not be happy."

" The bed is too comfortable, I really don't want to get up!"

" I really didn't sleep well. I'll be listless all day. do you want to take a vacation today?"

Self - accusation, worry, tangle, anxiety, the negative emotions caused by these inner noises keep pouring into us. As a result, we are reluctant to take action or even give up the action directly, and then because of our inaction, more inner noises will be caused, which further devours our actions.

Question 3: Perfectionism Complex

Many people are explicit or implicit perfectionists - " either do one thing to the fullest or do nothing."

This tendency of perfectionism tends to lead people into endless preparations and assumptions, to the opposite of efficient execution, and not being ready becomes the biggest excuse of many perfectionists.

In fact, behind the perfectionism complex lies a fear mentality. Because he is afraid of failure and frustration, he may stop his action and continue to imagine and plan as long as there is a slight deviation from the result. For him, only in this way can he keep a distance from possible failure and thus avoid facing frustration and tension.

This kind of perfectionism, which seems to have high demands on oneself, is actually a kind of superior and inferior person who refuses to face the reality.

Question 4: Do not know the dismantling task

Sometimes, a task becomes a powerful burden in our eyes because it is too heavy, and we lack the ability to disassemble it, so we will fall into a state of chaos and anxiety and do not know where to start.

Even when actions have already been taken, we are easily driven today due to lack of planning, and the result is that tomorrow we will give up. This directly makes us unable to continue and eventually give up halfway.

Question 5: Laziness, love to make excuses for yourself

If there is anything that excites our subconscious mind, it is unconditional and compulsive laziness.

Laziness will allow us to make excuses for procrastination, create a comfort zone in our subconscious, and then pull our spiritual focus here and store it.

At this time, there are usually two voices in your brain, one shouting desperately: " act quickly, don't stop, finish the job quickly!" While the other voice comes from the leisurely and comfortable area, urging you more attractively: " Don't move, it's too difficult. It's better to have some fun and do nothing is the best!"

These five major problems are often the root of the inefficiency of our execution in our daily life.

When you have made numerous plans, made numerous resolutions and made numerous vows, but are still stuck in the mire of poor execution and procrastination, you may as well think about what kind of problems caused your slow action.

Only when we face our problems directly can we suit the remedy to the case and find a solution.

After understanding the real problem of our poor execution, how can we improve our execution?

Here I give several methods that I think are more effective.

| actively self - talk

Since too much inner noise will cause more internal friction and delay our execution, we must find ways to eliminate those noises.

In fact, it is impossible to completely eliminate inner noise, because everyone has a dialogue with himself. A better way is to turn negative inner noise into positive self - dialogue.

When you are worried that you are not doing well, that you are making mistakes, and that you have all kinds of remorse, anxiety and panic in your heart, you can say to yourself -

" What if you fail? It's a big deal to start from scratch."

" As long as you do your best, there is nothing to be afraid of."

" instead of being scared here, you should think of nothing and do it directly."

In fact, if one refuses to take action because of perfectionism, one can harvest the power of action through such dialogue.

When you pierce the veil of fear through active self-talk and gain positive energy from it, you will obviously find that your heart is calmer and more harmonious, and your actions become stronger, and what you have been afraid to do becomes easier to start.

| Disassembling Target

Most of the time, when a goal is too big, you are at a loss, because what we get from it is often frustration, but it is difficult to feel a sense of accomplishment.

However, only when we can obtain a continuous sense of accomplishment when doing something can we continue to act.

Just like you set yourself the goal of " exercise for one hour a day and lose 20 pounds a month", this goal means you have to exercise a lot and eat a strict diet every day, which is a torture for a person who never exercises.

At this time, even if you start to act, you will feel powerless, because this goal is too difficult for you, so difficult that if you think about it, your heart will die.

For our brains, the sense of achievement is the most effective way to motivate them.

Therefore, during the implementation of the plan, we can break down the goals into small goals that can give us a sense of achievement, so that we can gradually get a sense of achievement and positive feedback in the small goals, so that we can continue to act and finally reach a big goal.

Just like your goal is to lose 20 pounds and exercise for one hour a day, let your first goal in action be set to exercise for 15 minutes a day. When we can finish the first goal stably and smoothly, then you can go further and let yourself exercise for 20 minutes and half an hour a day, gradually increasing the difficulty of the goal and finally completing the final big goal.

| refine tasks

After we have set a suitable target, we need to refine the tasks to be executed.

As mentioned above, exercise for 15 minutes every day, so when you do task refinement, you need to ask yourself these questions:

When will the 15 - minute exercise be scheduled?

What sports will I do in these 15 minutes? Running, weightlifting or lifting?

If it is running, how much speed is appropriate? If it is weightlifting, how many barbells do you lift in groups?

Only when we consider these details clearly when we plan, then we will not delay our action because we need to think hard.

If you still have to think about what to do and how to do it during the execution, it can only show that you have not worked hard at the planning stage, which is bound to cause great resistance to our actions.

The best strategy for efficient execution is to see the plan to be made and then execute it without thinking.

This requires that when we make plans, we should refine the tasks and consider them thoroughly:

The task is not clear, can you see it at a glance

Have you specified every detailed step?

Is it possible to proceed step by step without thinking?

If there is a problem, how should we deal with it?

When we have considered all these things, the plan will be an executable plan, and a good feasible plan is like drawing a flow chart. We know clearly what to do next.

| to create a convenient implementation

When you want to paint, if you are still looking for paintbrushes and pigments, you will only waste your enthusiasm for action on these trivial matters.

If you want to improve your execution, you need to create convenience for your actions so that the objective conditions needed for your actions are sufficient, thus reducing the resistance to our actions.

In other words, after you have made your plan, you need to think about it:

What kind of environment and tools does this task need?

What do I need to prepare in advance and where can I put it to reduce resistance?

Just like you want to run, if your sportswear and sneakers are all hidden in the cupboard, then you need to unpack your equipment, would you still like to run?

But if you get your exercise equipment ready early and put it within easy reach of the door, then when you want to run, you can act immediately without internal friction.

Therefore, when you want to study, you may as well put the book in a conspicuous place, and when you are ready to study, you may as well turn off your cell phone to avoid interference.

| Building Internal Driving Forces

When we want to do something from the heart, we can often act effortlessly, and because we are absorbed in what we do, we can enter a state of flow, thus not only reaching our goals, but also gaining inner happiness.

Therefore, we need to build a sense of meaning for our goals and tasks and clearly understand why we want to do this.

This actually still involves our values -

" What kind of person I want to be and what is important to me."

As I continue to write, I don't stop trying to earn money to feed myself by writing, but give it more meaning:

Regard writing as a tool for self - growth, recognize yourself and reconstruct yourself by recording your thoughts.

As a medium of communication with others, I hope my life philosophy and positive thinking can bring value and change to others.

These deeper senses of meaning finally enable me to learn new knowledge and think about life after work, so that I can continue to output and write when I am overwhelmed.

If we want to have more lasting and efficient execution, then we need to face our hearts and find out the meaning and driving force of doing something. This is the most essential solution to get rid of mediocrity.

The essence and core of execution is to hit the point, leave no dead corners and solve problems.

But a person's execution is not strong, it depends on whether he can continue to practice when he encounters difficulties.

If a person can face up to his own problems, clearly know who he is, what he wants and how to do it, he will be very firm and have efficient execution, thus full of control over life.

Life is ultimately a journey of self - exploration.

Most of the time, mediocrity or excellence are hidden in our daily actions. The most important thing is not what you thought about, but what you finally achieved.
