By now you have mastered the “G” chord and you are ready to learn your next chord.

Following the same advice from your previous lesson, first practice placing your fingers in the position indicated below to make the “C” chord. Strum up and down, listening to hear all notes clearly ringing out.

NOTE: The “X” at the bottom of the image indicates that the corresponding string should not be played. So, for the “C” chord, you will only be strumming up and down strings 5 through 1.

Once you feel comfortable placing your fingers in position to play the “C” chord, you may do the same exercise you did with your first chord by lifting your fingers off the guitar and repeatedly placing your fingers in position for the “C” chord. Do this until you can do so quickly and with ease, with all notes ringing true.

Don’t forget to also keep practicing the first chord you learned!

Once you feel you can quickly place your fingers in position to play the “C” chord, try alternating between the “G” chord and the “C” chord. Begin slowly and increase the speed at which you transition from one chord to the other as you feel comfortable. Continue doing this until the transition is completely comfortable and it can be done seamlessly.

Good Luck!
