Araschnia levana f. prorsa (Linnaeus, 1758)

Das Landkärtchen ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Edelfalter (Nymphalidae). In Deutschland fliegt es in zwei Generationen. Die erste Generation fliegt in den Monaten Mai und Juni und die zweite Generation findet man in den Monaten August und September. Als Lebensraum dienen feuchte Waldränder mit blütenreichen Randstreifen. Das Weibchen legt seine Eier an die Blattunterseite von Brennnesseln. Dort frisst die Raupe bis sie sich nach der letzten Häutung einen geeigneten Platz zur Verpuppung sucht. In einer Stürzpuppe entwickelt sich der Falter. Je nach Tageslänge entwickelt sich eine optisch unterschiedliche Variante. Der Falter ist noch weit verbreitet und in seinem Bestand nicht gefährdet.

The map is a butterfly from the family of (Nymphalidae). In Germany it flies in two generations. The first generation flies in May and June and the second generation in August and September. The habitat is moist forest edges with flower-rich edge strips. The female lays her eggs on the underside of the leaves of nettles. There the caterpillar eats until it looks for a suitable place to pupate after the last moulting. The butterfly develops in a pupa. Depending on the length of the day, an optically different variant develops. The butterfly is still widespread and its population is not endangered.
