Birken-Jungfernkind ■ Orange underwing

Archiearis parthenias (Linnaeus, 1761)

The orange underwing is a moth from the family of Geometridae. The orange underwing is the first active moths in deciduous forests. It flies in a generation from mid-February to the end of April. During the day the butterfly usually sits on the ground or on stones to sunbathe. It likes to suck on willow catkins, tree sap and faeces. The caterpillars feed on birches and pupate on dead wood close to the ground. There the pupa hibernates. The butterfly can only be found sporadically. In Lower Franconia I can still observe it regularly.

What a very pretty Moth. Beautifully captured. 🦋🌴🌈💛🍀

I have already admired your first contribution and am quite fascinated by the great butterflies. In the tropics the diversity of species is still the greatest.

Thank you very much for your feedback.🦋

Schönes Foto von einem schönen Falter. Fast unsichtbar in Farben schillernd... LGG

;-) LGG
